Title: Baseball @ WMU
Post by: valpotx on April 16, 2013, 05:15:55 PM
Darn it!  We lost 5-4 to WMU today, which is our 11th one run loss this season.  On the positive side, we aren't getting blown out by anyone, but we really need to start winning some of these close ones for our team's mental psyche!!

One reason we're in so many close games:  we're #15 in the country in sac bunts, and #176 in stolen bases.  In other words, we're giving up A LOT of outs moving a guy from 1st to 2nd.  Our offensive philosophy lends itself to one run games.  Also, we are near the bottom (about #260 or so) in D1 in extra base hits.  We have to try to manufacture runs due to lack of power, but now that we're half way through the year, I'd like to see us use our speed to steal more bases rather than always rely on the sac bunt.  We're giving away too many outs, and that eliminates the potential big inning.  Just my  :twocents:
