Congrats to Erik Hromadka (1988) who is receiving the 2014 Alumni Achievement Award on October 12th at the Chapel of the Resurrection!

Much was written about him by gracious alumni on the old Valpo Fan Forum (the predecessor of this fine site).
I would like to surprise him with this thread at Homecoming. So please list you favorite Erik story. (If you do not know him or of his legendary time at Valpo and Sigma Tau Gamma, please check out the Valpo Fan Forum or www.gwtr.com (http://www.gwtr.com).)
Thank you

What did he achieve?........besides getting a bid from Sig Tau?

Great choice by the VU Alumni Association.

Hopefully you were trying (unsuccessfully) to be funny. ???
I do believe there was something recently covering Erik in the Indy Star.
OTOH, I don't think it's unreasonable for the "run-of-the-mill" Valpo alum not to know who Erik is. Maybe Valpo should be promoting Erik's accomplishments. Maybe someone other than Ralph on a message board should be promoting him. Ralph, why don't you take any interest in Valpo athletics?
I am encouraged that Erik has accomplished so much. Great for him and great for Valpo!!!!
But please don't beat people up on a sports message board for not knowing who he is.
Congrats to him, but I am with bbtds. I wouldn't have known about him if I hadn't been on the old forum. Still, a great accomplishment!

Presume that was pointed at me. Here's the point. Crusadermoe's question was belittling in that he said "what else has he achieved--besides getting a bid from Sig Tau?? There are lots of alums who have accomplished great things but doubt any of us would know about it if the person wasn't Ginger Zee, and then many still wouldn't. The assumption should have been that the Alumni Board did their research and deemed Erik worthy. Then, if truly interested, do a little research. And oh, by the way, his question--"what has he achieved?" was asked on a sports message board where perhaps it should have been directed elsewhere.

vu72, I don't know a Genger Zee, but I did know Ginger Zee when I was at Valpo.

Ah yes, the "spelling police" at it again! Fixed!
Technically, you are both incorrect. Her true name is Ginger Zuidgeest, and you forgot the most important part, that she gave back rubs to me/my friends FR year :)
Ah, yes, the back rubs. Always, the back rubs. I haven't forgotten.
Did she tell you there would be "a high pressure situation to the north, with a 30% chance of deep friction"?

No, but Doug Rich did
...and I haven't forgotten about you and Doug Rich either.
What's the deal? No way he was Sig Tau...
I just have to remind the forum every so often ;)

Actually it was zero percent chance of ......... and why mention zero percent chance. Ginger didn't get where she is today by being negative. :-)
Much higher than 0% chance ;)
Wait Erik Hromadka, CEO of GWTR, actually won an Alumni Award? I had never heard of previous recipients but Erik... I've bought stock in his company... small world...

moodboom:
Heck yeah! This is huge. The guy had a dream to fix the problem of drinking water delivery throughout the globe back when he was at VU, and now less than thirty years later ...!
By the way, are you a friend of Doug Rich? I am pretty sure I have heard him mention you. ???

Interesting. The dude needs a tailor!
Interesting that GWT is working with a nice cross section of IUPUI, the IU Health Hospitals, the economically depressed area around Crispus Attucks HS and some golf courses on the east side of the White River including, I believe, the Indianapolis Zoo. Which is a wide range of neighborhoods.

Don't ask me (I certainly don't qualify!), but it seems that the most successful CEOs of PTCs don't let themselves become slaves of fashion - Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, T. Boone Pickens, Kirk Kerkorian, Erik Hromadka, Bob Stupak (RIP), etc. :twocents:

Erik just needs a black turtleneck. No tailoring needed, whew.
Or is it too early?
