Not only did Valpo host their first track meet, maybe ever (certainly since cinders went out of style!) but now Valpo men's tennis will play for a championship tomorrow, for the first time in history.
I watched the match on ESPN3 and the men are very impressive. What's more impressive is that they beat a Cleveland State team which was dominated by seniors and which have more championships then any other current member. Oh yeah, our team is dominated by sophomores!! Title match tomorrow at 11!!

Unfortunately, we lost 4-0, but we have a lot to look forward to in the next 2 seasons! I believe that we won a few championships in the Mid-Con in both men's and women's tennis, fyi, though I believe the women are the only ones to make the NCAA tourney.
I'm pleased to see former students of mine managed 2nd in the men's pole vault (Valpo swept) as well as 1st in the women's high jump. And a current student, just a freshman, took 3rd in javelin.
Ugly weather, but great to finally have a home meet.
The crowd was probably better for the robotic football - which was fantastic (and full of present, former, and future students - who were very gracious with their time, enthusiasm, and expertise after the game, talking with my kids and I, and with lots of other spectators).
