Carin Avery just released the 2015 VB schedule.

A quick look at the opponents indicates another 20+ win season. That same look does not show scheduling the best possible opponents (Power conference teams) to challenge us to finally get past the HL final and into the NCAA tournament -- thoughts?

My first reaction was that I thought we might go undefeated going into the conference schedule. I agree, this will lead to a continuation of the 20 win seasons but not necessarily prepare us for getting back to the NCAAs which hasn't happened since we joined the Horizon. High time...
But you have to like 15 home games!
It looks like we have a young team, so maybe it is a good idea to build confidence in wins. We only lose Kelsey Berrington after this season, so we should be good this season and next.
We start out on the road with a 4-3 win over Chattanooga, a team picked 5th in their conference. Oh well, we'll take the win!!
Another beginning of regular season tournament championship, going 3-0 in TN. Let's take a HL championship this season!!!
Took 3 straight in NYC and were pretty dominant today vs. St. Francis. Women got to see a lot of the city while earning the wins.
They were also on GMA with my classmate Ginger :)

Did she give any back massages?
This team has a very good chance of having a great record this year. They are currently 91st in the college volleyball rankings of Massey:
http://www.masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=cvol&sub=NCAA (http://www.masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=cvol&sub=NCAA) I
with a good chance to win most matches:
http://www.masseyratings.com/team.php?t=8361&s=282493 (http://www.masseyratings.com/team.php?t=8361&s=282493)
Ranked 3rd in HL pre-season. Hope (again) that they can break through at tournament time and get a NCAA slot.

Good to know that you pay attention every time I mention it ;)
VU VB gets to 3-0 in the HL, with a 3-1 victory over UIC.
Next match is Friday versus Oakland.
20 wins aside (which we always seem to get) Is it possible that this team is better built for the HL than previous teams?
With the UIC win, the team is now 15 and 2 , 3-0 in the HL with 15 more matches to go. Way to go ladies
Tonight is a big night for the ladies. They host last year's HL champ and the 2015 preseason #1 pick, Oakland. This should be a good indicator of how we will fare the rest of the season.
Go Ladies!
:( :( :( lost 1-3. There is HL hump we have to get over but I'll be damned if I know what it is.
Up in the crucial third set 24-21 and let it slip away as Oakland scored 6 of the last 7 points to win 25-27. We win that set and we probably win the match.
VB beats Milwaukee, tonight, 3-0. A very nice effort by the ladies led to a fairly easy victory.
For those of you interested in exciting college sports, I would encourage you to watch a Valpo volleyball game. Incredible action and excitement! today they lost to NKU in five game. This won't be Valpo's year but they only have one senior. Very fine stuff.

I agree, 72. These ladies are amazing athletes. VU VB is one of the best games in town, and a very inexpensive night out.
I was wrong a few posts ago when I said that it wouldn't happen this year for this young team. They have now reversed course and beaten two teams on the road, who they lost to at home. They are playing great volleyball and I wouldn't count them out to win the whole thing! Great win tonight ladies!!!!! ;D
Good finish to the season to end up with the 3 seed, and we have shown that we can beat, or lose to just about anyone. Let's get that NCAA bid, as volleyball has been so close on numerous occasions since we joined the HL!
After beating Oakland yesterday the ladies are a match away from the title AND the NCAA. It's on ESPN3 today.
1 pm central, I believe.
Valpo goes down 0-3 in the final to CSU :(
I don't know how much experience means in volleyball, but this squad loses only 1 senior and made it to the final. Hopefully next season they'll go all the way.
3:20 Update: Wow, just looked at the set by set scores. We lost by 12, 9, and 7. Given the little I know about volleyball, that seems like a trouncing??

On your point about only one senior, that senior was injured and din't even play. As for the score, those were the three worse thumpings of the entire year. This team showed great strength at times and underclassperson woes at others. We still haven't broken through with a title after four title games tries. I suspect we will be the team to beat next year. Great year overall.

Kelsey Barrington, the senior, who's mother is the VB coach at Eastern Michigan, did play in the HL VB tournament. It was Emily Campbell, who's a junior, was the best player, except for Allison Ketcham, on this year's team was the one who was hurt and only played very little in the tournament.
Next year should shape up to be more successful. There will be 5 seniors, 4 Juniors and 4 Sophs, many of which played significant minutes this year.
