Hi All, just getting away from the basketball this time. Just wanting to let you all know that finally we are having a fellow Valpo fan in Valpo84 and his lovely wife visiting us here in Melbourne Australia. I cannot tell you how excited we are to have some Valpo visitors come "Down Under". We will be catching up with them tomorrow and showing them around Rowdy's hometown of Mornington. So if any of you ever want to come and visit we would love to see you. So G'day from Mornington, Victoria Australia
so jealous! :(
Fantastic!
What's the weather like this time of year?
Spring so we get some really nice sunny days :)
Melbourne is fantastic. Rowdy's hometown is picturesque. Koala is a supreme host and everyone should come on down. The weather had been "spot on" very pleasant. No worries down here. The skies are so blue. We had a terrific time with Koala and the family, and we have even met real live koalas and parrots.
Here is an interesting tangent.... the Concordia Lutheran High School Boys Basketball Team is planning a visit to Australia next summer. Not sure where they are headed or if that has even been decided. Just heard about it this weekend. I am sure that the coaching staff and koala might be able to give them some advise.
How did it come to pass that a talented young man traveled half way around the world to play basketball for a small town college in rural Indiana?
Well to answer your question in short there was nothing for him back in Australia in the sense we don't have the college system as America does hence the decision to leave our shores and go to Valpo. Also Valpo was a nice fit for Rowdy, he loves it and is doing well at school and also with his basketball so a great decision I think and we shall see where it leads him after he graduates? Thanks for asking

Pretty funny. Valpo has much more pull internationally than you realize, hence our long history of bringing talented students and athletes (or in Rowdy's case a combination thereof) to the "small town college"
