Post by: VULB#62 on November 27, 2018, 10:49:34 PM
Loyola loses to Nevada 79-65. That's quite a spread.

I watched the game and that spread was pretty much the same throughout the game, even a little bit worse.  Nevada is a legit top 5 program.  They start five redshirt seniors and a couple will play in the NBA.  Loyola has a pretty good freshman who can shoot the 3 but he isn't Javon Freeman good. Overall Loyola looked good but not Sweet Sixteen good.

In other games last night:

Drake over Boise 83-74
SIU over Colorado State 82-67

Wednesday Night Games:

Wyoming @ Evansville (-2.0)
N Iowa @ Utah State (-10.5)
Mizz State (-2.5) @ Air Force
Ind State (-7.0) @ San Jose St
Valpo @ UNLV (-7.5)

I'll say the MVC goes 3-2 to take a commanding 5-3 lead with 2 games left on Saturday.

That Wyoming Evansville game could be the swing game. If we win that game we have a great shot at winning the challenge. Hopefully UNI and Valpo can get some surprising road wins.

Looks like the MVC will close the challenge with a victory and ending the stalemate

Looks like Valpo will be undefeated in the MVC/Challenge

It's looking good but don't file it away yet. Both those games will be tough. Thankfully the MVC has home court.

In fact this year's challenge is following a similar script to the past 2 years. The MVC took 5-3 leads in the challenge in 2016 and 2017 only to see those end in ties. The MVC hasn't won since year 1 of the challenge in 2009. Counting this year's games that have already been played the MWC holds a 41-32 all time advantage.

Drake over Boise 83-74
SIU over Colorado State 82-67

Wednesday Night Games:

Wyoming @ Evansville (-2.0) - Evansville 86 - Wyoming 78
N Iowa @ Utah State (-10.5) - Utah State 71 - Northern Iowa 52
Mizz State (-2.5) @ Air Force - Air Force 88 - Missouri State 69
Ind State (-7.0) @ San Jose St - Indiana State 86 - San Jose State 57 (not a typo)
Valpo @ UNLV (-7.5) - Valpo 72 - UNLV 64

That makes it 5-3, guaranteed no worse than a tie with two to play on Saturday

Fun With Numbers... Valpo Scores in the last three "Challenges"

MWC-MVC Challenge:  72-64 - over UNLV
MWC-MVC Challenge:  72-65 - over Utah State
Bracketbuster 2015:    72-66 - over Eastern Kentucky

I like the trend :)

oh, we did win the last 5 bracketbuster games we played...
