Every one of Tulane's games has been within five points. Thus, I expect this to be within five points - but Valpo to win.
Tough to tell which team will show up. The team that played the second half on Monday or the team that played in second half last night.
Consistency has been a major problem since Peters got injured. We need leaders on the court that make sure everyone is ready to play. We need leaders on the bench that recognize lack of effort and get someone else in there fast.
Push the tempo with all of these players that can contribute, and if they allow an offensive rebound or don't move on offense, move someone else in.

I know that I promised to remain calm and patient until Thanksgiving but some folks are already starting to work on their stuffing and pies and cranberry salads! So!! Maybe by the time our ovens cool down I will really be starting to heat up! :o
Meanwhile---Go Matt and Go Beacons!
Valpo is 1-4 against the spread and that is their overall record as well. The only cover was the sole win against Jacksonville state. I'm putting money on the crusaders today, plus 4.
How the hell did they get 5 FTs on a single possession? I turned away for 20 seconds.
Tech on bench and foul on a three pointer
So Matt didn't like the foul call on the 3 pointer, I assume?
Terrible 30 seconds by Krikke. 2 turnovers and a foul.
MLB, Matt isn't your boy , this team is talented and he can't put them together , if this continues get him out ! Just a bad basketball team , Valpo down 9.
Why the hell not get a 2 for 1?? We had it with 50 seconds left. I am glad we made it, but come on...
:o
Good fight back. Impressive win, that hopefully turns the corner on our season. Hunter and McCallum have to hate us so hard.
Nice close of the game, 11-4 after the final media timeout. Still relying too much on 3-point shots, 62 attempts in the last two games.
Had to stop listening early in the second half. I take credit for the comeback because when I watch or listen in the second half, they blow it.
Has to help build confidence that when the 2 K's don't score a lot they can still win. Looks like Edwards had a big game and iced it at the line. Good for him and a nice comeback win for the team.
I don't want to see anyone giving Sheldon grief any more. Is he erratic at times on offense? Sure. But that kid plays his heart out and gets it done on the defensive end!
Why is Keyondre not getting more playing time??? He can shoot and that length is going to bother so many teams!!
And I've certainly been hard on Eron Gordon so far this season, but props to him for stepping up tonight and hitting some key shots!
34 out of our 53 shots were 3's. That's scary and not sustainable.
I could not watch / listen to the game but followed the stats.
My biggest question with games I cannot watch is why did we win?
Was it mid game adjustments (e.g. switching to zone, 3/4 press, set plays) or was it an individual player catching fire?
For those who had a better view of the game, what do you think it was?
Great game. Great comeback. Edwards was fantastic both on offense and defense. And great to see Young make some big plays and play those final key minutes. VU will have difficulty all year against more athletic teams which both Coastal Carolina and Tulane were. But all you negative posters last night should have thought maybe VU was more worn down those last 5 minutes. Carolina had a big advantage in not playing the day before and not dealing with all the arena problems too. Thought the Refs seemed to give more bad calls to VU tonight. Especially the one against Krikke. The guy charged into him and would have been his 5th foul. Anyways just my 2 cents. VU did something that they haven't done lately .... comeback and win.
Over the last 6 minutes of the game, Tulane took a lot more contested shots, and we tried to get into their passing lanes a bit more. They didn't have too many wide open looks, and when they did, we lucked out. Agreed on Sheldon's defense. I was worried about who would replace the shot blocking that Clay gave us last season, and Sheldon is already over 10!

I almost walked away too. Thankfully I didn't!

Kevion Taylor is good but I would prefer him playing less minutes with Young and Barrett playing more. Our freshman and sophomore classes could be carrying an important part of the load come January and beyond. With no red shirt for Young you have to find him some opportunities on the floor.
Good job Beacons. Move to 2-4 and covered the spread. Good job fighting back. I feel like I've seen this before.

I am so &$@#%}g tired of all this stupid talk about getting a 2 for 1. As a coach YOU ARE FOCUSED ON A GOOD PROCESSION NOT TAKING A QUICK SHOT SO WE CAN GET THE BALL BACK WITH A FEW SECONDS LEFT SO WE CAN TAKE ANOTHER QUICK, MOST LIKELY BAD SHOT. I wish Todd would stop talking about it. If you get a really good opportunity in the first 10 seconds then ok, go for it, but to force a shot up in that time frame just so you can get the ball back with maybe 15 seconds left to, in most cases, put up another rushed shot is just BAD coaching.

The effort is certainly there and he can play defensive although even there he jumps around too much and loses position. As to his offense, he deserves the grief. He's played Valpo out of a few games almost single handily and he's erratic. He was on tonight but, too often, his "on's" are followed by multiple "off's".
Let's hope for a change.
More Keyondre! He hit 2 huge 3's at crucial times, gets fouled on 1, and buries the FT. I'm not surprised. He was a cold blooded killer in close games last year.
2-1 in the tournament and a victory over a quality ASun team and an AAC team. Not bad. Something to build on. Let the best players play. Period. Too much talent on this team not to win at least somewhat consistently.

Great, my view has nothing to do with what Todd says. A quality possession? We walked the ball up, wasting 7-8 seconds straight away. There was no attempt to run it to half court, to even see if we could get a quick/quality bucket, to allow for a 2 for 1. It isn't stupid to see if the possibility even exists, which you kill, once you decide to 'get a good posession.' I am so A$@#%}g tired of all this stupid talk about getting a good possession, when you equate a good possession to wasting 7-8 seconds at the beginning of said possession... ;)
It's nice to make the opposing fan base miserable for a change:

That was a fun game. I almost gave up when we were down 12 then BAM Shelton puts the team on his back. Given his erratic play in the early games, I'm even more proud of how he kept his composure, waited patiently passed the ball in traffic and played a hell of a game.
We could truly be turning this season around. Congratulations on the win boys. I'm sure they were celebrating it big last night. Don't miss the flight home
So we got third place?
Anyone remember where we used to be? Beat Alabama and then BYU. 2016.

Let's also not forget, he's just starting off his Sophomore season. If he plays erratic on offense late this season into his junior year, then we can start to be concerned. But I don't mind seeing a guy try to feed himself if he is willing to always give 100% effort on the court as well as do the dirty work on the defensive end. Sheldon has easily checked the boxes on both fronts.
I don't wish other fanbases pain but it certainly beats the alternative of us feeling miserable. We've done more than our share of that the past few years. I hope this team can give us even more reasons for hope than this but as I wrote last night a 2-1 tournament is a good starting point from which to build. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Meanwhile he can play the team out of more games and we can blame everything but him.

Oh come on, how many Valpo players haven't been shooting us out of games??? When since the Peters teams have we been a good shooting team. If we're going to jack up 40 3s a game, someone is always going to shoot us out of the game, not just Sheldon. And while you're focused on the games Sheldon has not shot well, he's the reason we won last year against Bradley and last night against Tulane.

Seriously, think about how much Ron Hunter and Ray McCallum Sr. must hate Valpo. Ron got to look up at us for several years when at IUPUI, and the same for Ray at Detroit. They go into the last 8 minutes thinking that they get a rare win against Valpo, and boom, gut punch. They will never willingly schedule Valpo for the rest of their coaching careers :)
So far, this looks to have been a better win than we thought:

Yeah. That result was a real Shocker. ;D
