Tied for the HL lead after two weekends, can Valpo take a home series against the defending league champs? Yes, they can and should. Game one will be the biggest test of the year so far. GO VALPO!
I look forward to seeing us match up against WSU and UIC this year. Should be a good run for the title between the 3 schools.
Game notes for the Wright series are up on the site or here:

Deetjen, Wild, and Wormington are scheduled starters. Looks like rain on Friday...another Saturday DH?
For those who like to listen to how our baseball team is doing, Ryan Wronkowicz told me that due to WVUR donating their services to the Lutheran Basketball Association, there will be NO audio for Valpo baseball because they will be streaming the LBA tournament all weekend. Also, NO audio from Wright St. either. I did think to ask about that, so we'll be subjected to GameTracker, and any updates from jetz or anyone else who is there this weekend.
I have just downloaded tapatalk which is a forum application for the iPhone. I will try to give updates this weekend and post on the forum. It's supposed to auto tweet. If you want to follow me on twitter my handle is @capnjerry.

What about the Wright St broadcast? Do they stream their broadcast of the game?
They only webstream their home games. I'm not even sure that the press box at Bauer Field has the capability to videostream baseball games, and Ryan told me that Wright St. wasn't bringing an audio crew either.
Unless things have changed in the last 8 years, the press box at good 'ole Emory is very limited. I always felt bad for the people broadcasting the games, as it was always very dusty up there, and kind of felt like it could fall down at any time.
Nice honor for the troops. Are they going to wear the cami uniforms again? Maybe when they "invade" Fairborn, OH or west of the Loop?

It has been mentioned that the camo unis are the new Sunday uniform tops. I hope they have a better shelf life than the men's basketball grey uniforms.
So cool....
the athletics dept ought to combine this with getting the rotc cadets to present the colors before the game. we did soccer, volleyball, and basketball while i was there. it'd be nice to branch out some more and get the programs some more exposure.

Miller now in to pitch for Valpo Deetjen went eight innings gave up eight hits and six runs
Miller gets em 123. Need to win it in the ninth. It's cool here now. Hi 40s and breezy. Schaum in to pitch for WSU.
We go down 123. Schaum throws a submarine cutter runs in on righties. 90 mph or so. Tough.
Miller out for the 10th.

Johnson to second on pb.
Martin grounds out to short. We lose 7-6. Even game.
Did you know you can watch the play by play on the Valpo athletics website? I did, but thanks for the effort anyway!
I assume you're talking Gametracker. Sometimes Gametracker freezes or gets very slow. I probably won't be able to do updates as often tomorrow or Sunday, as I'm also taking pix and video for the Horizon League and cooking on a grill for Valpo parents. Pretty busy, and if my son plays I dump all of that to watch. Hope someone benefitted from the updates today. A shame we didn't win, but other than a baserunning mistake in our big inning, we really played pretty solidly.
I couldn't even get scoretracker to work on my work computer, so I very much appreciated the updates.
jetz, your updates, whether Gametracker works or not, are good because might get more of a real feel of what was going on as you update, and it could allow us to get some idea of what is going on that Gametracker can't tell us.
Sounds like I should do the updates again today. I will stay away from the play by play and try to give stuff that you don't get on Gametracker. If Gametracker quits or freezes, ask here for more play by play and I'll try to give it.
In reviewing yesterday's game, Deetjen started rough with 5 ER in the first two, but then settled in and shut down the Raider batters. We ran ourselves out of an inning in the seventh when Vavra got too aggressive and tried to go from first to third when it wasn't available. If I was to nitpick, I'd also say that two hits out to left that led to 3 runs might have been caught with a max risk diving effort. Hagel played both balls safely, allowing them to drop in front of him on one hop. To be fair, he may not have been able to make either play, but it seemed like he let up early on both balls. No errors for us in the game, and really we won innings 3-9 easily. Another close game gets away--we must have a dozen one or two run games this year.
Sorry in advance for the misspellings in the updates today--the dictation app hears "rides date" instead of "Wright State"--

First of all, you and your app could still make a killing in the Close Captioning market ;)
Second, so far, it's not been that hard to decipher. I'm amazed that you can sit with other fans and dictate into your phone without feeling self-conscious about it.
Yeah I do not do these updates near any people I get away from the crowd when I doing them. I'm here at the field now it's in the high 30s here forecast temperature 58° for a high will be lucky to make it it's overcast but not too windy ---a gloves and hat day
Valpo is wearing white pants with their black Saturday Jersey's right state wearing gray pants green jerseys with gold trim
Wild picks up right where he left off last week 8 pitch inning pop up to second base for the leadoff batter easy flyballs leftfield strikeout swinging
Wright State pitcher struggling last seven pitches were not close already action in the bullpen
How about I do a "whooop, whooop" for the first Valpo run of the game?
Whoooop! Whoooooop!
Good to take the lead.
Disappointing to get only one run out of that the flyball caught by the leftfielder nearly dropped
Ball slipped out of Vavra hands sailed way over the first baseman should have been an easy out
Easy inning for Wild routine flyballs
homerun from Davis is his second in two days went well over the right-field fence wild getting hit hard right now
Leffler could not dig out the low throw from Bain play should have been made now runners on the corners right state looking to bunt
Baseball was hit too slowly to turn two
Excuse me check swing from Leffler leads to an error by the third baseman
Wild won that K battle. 11 pitch at bat
Hagel hit it to the wall great catch by the right skate center fielder
Line Schott right back at wild he made a self preservation catch

Any relation to Marge?? ;D
No run support for wild nine inning no hitter with no decision last week now only two Valpo hits on the day
Nice pick off move by wild to first
Way pitcher stays tall and throws on a huge downhill angle. Lots of balls in the dirt but we swing.
love the updates, jetz. my one request would be occasional scores as well. that way it's a little easier to put things in perspective.
Mahar in to pitch. 2, 5, and 2 for wild in 7 innings.
Tough strikeout by Loeffler Sean Kennedy now into pitch for Valpo. We trail 3-2 top 9.
Soft ground ball to Leffler he fielded and threw that toss over the head of Kennedy the error scores a run for wright now 4-2 Raders
Game over. 4 hits not gonna do it. See ya tomoro.
Valpo sure was the left skate today and the team from Ohio was right skate. Gotta take the rubber game on Sunday. Maybe right skate will lose the rubber stopper and take a tumble.
Too bad, as those were two winnable games. Need Sunday to get us back on the right track!
These have been two heartbreaking losses, but we have the pitching to stay in it, just need more offense to put the games in our favor that way. I can see that we have the fight, but pitching can't be the only thing that keeps us in games.
Good afternoon I hope you're already for more dictation surprises at the field now temperature 70° light breeze partly cloudy breeze blowing from left-field foul pole to right-field foul pole pretty nice day we are wearing camouflage jerseys for our Sunday home game
Air Force R OTC colorguard just presented that colors. Two air force veterans threw out the first pitches. very cool. Wormington on the mound today
As they have gone all weekend right state makes Valpo pay for a hit by pitch single to drive home runner was sharply hit to write one to nothing Raiders
Valpo goes with two outs Leffler hit done absolute rope RBI single back up the middle Raeder pitcher mostly fastballs touching 90 now tied at one
That double from Hibbard was a high chopper Elliot Martin almost came up with it at third the throw to second was close but Hibbert was safe
Wright State strikes again A base hit drives in Hibberd now two – one Raiders midthird
That double-play is typical of the series so far right's date able to bunt a guy over to second We hit in to doubleplay
Nice play by Bain and Vavra. Barely doubled off the guy at second. 2-1 wright mid 5.
Again no bunt. Cribbs tried but couldn't get it down. Poor execution. We must bunt to score!
Right state executes again now three – one Raiders top six
write state shortstop fouled a b all off of his ankle and is hurt he is not playing shortstop now
Martin's ball hit the pitcher in the foot and ricocheted back towards home Vavra scores three – two raters to out bottom six
Questionable balk call leads to bases loaded one out for Wright State sac fly makes it four – two Raiders mid seven
This game looks identical to yesterdays we have only three hits Robinson in two pitch for Valpo. Worm line: 4 r 8 h 0 e
Walsh in to pitch the ninth for Valpo's truck out first batter next batter Ground ball of vavras shoulder bad hop. He was caught stealing Walsh struck out his second of the inning to end top 9.
Team is very disappointed lost three games by a total of four had tying run on third with one out but could not score but squeeze bunt with one out may have been the call.
