Ah for some reason I had that mixed in my brain.

I can promise you, people that aren't going to UWM games aren't watching the games on their laptop. UWM is completely irrelevant in Milwaukee and most of their students don't even know they have a D1 team. Saying the attendance at UWM is low because of laptop streaming has no basis in reality.Quote from: a3uge on September 08, 2014, 09:23:38 PMUWM has attendance issues in their own stadium and their games have been televised locally for many years before HL net was around. So there goes that theory. That's BS. They don't televise their entire season's worth of home games. They only televised a handful of them. That is actually a good business practice. Give potential fans a taste of your product hoping to turn them into future paying customers. It's a model that has made Netflix billions. They give you a month free to try their service before they start to charge you. It's a sound business practice taught to any first year business student. It's a shame the idiots that run the HL think that giving away the entire product is going to somehow do the same thing.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkIronically 24 hours prior to the announcement he sent a Tweet to someone that knocked Julius Randle for not knowing what the word "attainment" was. Given 10 chances, Jordan Aaron could probably come up with 3.1 correctish definitions.

6-10 Butler freshman Nolan Berry has announced that he will be transferring. Despite not playing much this year, IMO he has definite potential. I think he's the 5th Butler player to quit the team since the beginning of this season.

Agreed but at the time we were a wreck still playing in Hilltop Gym in believe. Some theorize that the original name Midwestern Cities Conference was chosen to make sure we were kept out.Quote from: wh on March 26, 2014, 11:45:39 AMLet me see if I can address your question, at least indirectly. It's common knowledge (confirmed by BigD WSU) that Valpo declined an invitation to join the HL in 2001, after which the league invited YSU.
Well, if a guy from Wright State said it then it must be gospel. I am not sure it is common knowledge, not even sure it is true.
I refuse to believe a word of this until it's confirmed by a reputable source like Jimmy from PantherU.

Quote from: LaPorteAveApostle on March 25, 2014, 07:32:51 PMoh, excellent! That's very helpful. Obviously, post-points are not our fault, because we schedule the teams for future games, not past, but it's helpful and interesting to see where it all ended up.

The BROWN award for LAST PLACE goes to Kyle321n, but don't worry, man, we won't tell the people at the mid-majority blog-type thing about this. Probably.
Quote from: LaPorteAveApostle on March 24, 2014, 07:37:22 PMwhat's pre- and post-pts?
Quote8.04 The following requirements must be met by all Atlantic 10 men's basketball teams. The penalty for non-compliance is outlined in the Conference Constitution and Bylaws.
A. Each men's team must maintain a 1.8 average for all non-conference games schedules. The RPI at the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament of the preceding season will be used for the pre-season analysis and the current season's pre-NCAA tournament RPI will be used for post-season analysis. The point values are as follows:
Ranked 1-50 in the RPI: 4 points
Ranked 51-100 in the RPI: 3 points
Ranked 101-125 in the RPI: 2.5 points
Ranked 126-150 in the RPI: 2 points
Ranked 151-175 in the RPI: 1 point
Ranked 176-200 in the RPI: 0.5 point
Ranked 201+ in the RPI: 0 points
B. Any Atlantic 10 institution playing a non-conference game against an opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC PAC-10 or Big East will receive no less than 2 points, regardless of the team's RPI.
C. Any Atlantic 10 institution playing a non-conference game against an opponent from Conference USA or Mountain West will receive no less than 1 point, regardless of the team's RPI.
8.05 An institution is permitted to fall short of the 2.0 requirement for women and a 1.8 for men twice in a 3-year period without being subject to the financial penalty. This exception is contingent on the overall conference scheduling average to being above a 2.3. The conference average will be determined entering the start of the season. If, at that time, it falls below a 2.3, the average will be calculated once more at the end of the season. When the final average is calculated, it shall then be determined if institutions which fell below a 2.0 /1.8 are subject to the financial penalties. Effective with the 2003-04 season.

Quote from: a3uge on March 24, 2014, 01:38:31 PMHe just described the Ivies to a T. Well minus the multiple bids and tourney wins.Quote from: oklahomamick on March 24, 2014, 01:08:00 PM
I want the team to be successful and in a successful conference. What determines succesfful conference? 1-2 bids where the conference winner doesn't always receive a 15-16. A win in a the NCAA tournament from time to time.
I also want the conference to have mostly private schools, good fan base, higher academic repuatation, and larger endowments.
I don't like playing schools with state money, huge student population where most don't live on campus, lower academic rankings and small endowments.
Besides location, what do we have in common with our conference foes?
What's the alternative? This conference you describe doesn't exist.
