Great preseason for the women.  Love the unselfish play and the coaching.  Plus being able to shoot the ball doesn't hurt at all.

They played terribly but a great rebound win at Illinois! Nicole had to have surgery and is out for the season  :(

Our kids played hard.  Illinois is a very talented team who shoots at a very average rate.  We defended the Ft line well(joke) and really did pressure them into bad 3s.  While Illinois will finish near the bottom of the B1G, after the BG game this was a great confidence builder

Grace White working through a back injury.  This team is getting better every game.  Profitt back really helped vs. Ill St.  Now if White comes back, they are legit 10 deep again.  Because they do foul alot when they play aggressive d. Which helps them because they will win a FT battle like Ill st was.

An interesting stat was that this is the Womens teams first 3 game winning streak over D1 opponents since 2013.  Should be favored in their next 5 games also...

Their philosophy seems to be 5 out on offense which would mean, more 3 point shooters, long wings and less "post" players.

Quote from: jack on February 04, 2019, 08:35:02 AMnot enough time and effort is going into conditioning with very specific drills designed exclusively for women. They need to bring someone on board that gets this. If not, the injuries will continue.

And how do you know this?  Because kids are getting injured?  Or are you a coach in the program who disagrees with how things are done?

This is a completely different system with kids recruited to play in a different system.  It is much like a football coach who is spread system taking over a team better suited to power football.  It will take time to get the right kids in place and coach up the present ones to play in this system.

Watched the game on ESPN+. They played very hard and were aggressive on both ends of the floor.  UIC had a kid get smoking hot from the 3 point line and had another make some circus shots on late shot clocks.  This directly led to the L for Valpo.  The freshman guard looks very good and the team plays much more together than they did in the past.

I was not trying to say there should be separate tourneys.  All kids want the chance to play in the big one

Let the "Big Boys" have their own tourney and the Mid-Majors their own.  Also separate the polls and rankings by the Power Conferences and the Mid-Majors.  It would create some interest not only by region but perhaps on a National basis.  And of  course it would create new and more exciting schedules for the M-M schools.

Isnt this what the NCAA tourney and the NIT/CBI? etc. kind of already are???  NCAA for the "big boys" (mostly) and the NIT for the mids (mostly)

Dont blame smartphones, there are kids in every school looking for social interaction without their phones.  If you get the right student leaders and a good product, students will attend.  I have been to games all over the country in schools big and small. Good product and good leaders = great atmosphere.
