I don't understand the idea that we would increase attendance
Do you really think people are chomping at the bit to see us play Ind st or any of these other schools?
No way
Butler was our last chance of having a "rival" and to get the stands packed

Laura and Florida Football
I don't think anyone is trying to bash your kids
You and your sons commitments both financially and time wise put into playing football is commendable
I think most people ....probably like yourselves are just disappointed with the direction of the program
2 wins in 3 years is unacceptable and anything less than 5 or 6 this year should be considered a disappointment
There seem to be a lot of returners on the team so if they are going to be better, this should be the year

A Louisville assistant got the umkc job
I am sure we could get a better pool of candidates than they do

Although the team this year did really well,I feel that with all of the talent and experience we had,we should have been able to win a couple games in the tournament
Tired of losing to the bcs schools
If we really want to take our program to the next level, like Butler has,we need to win a few of these games
Unfortunately it will now be a couple years for us to have a shot at getting in the tourney again, and even then I am not sure we will be as good as this team was

i agree with you that it would help if our teams showed better we would have more alums willing to contribute ,but it does not seem plausible that these teams are going to compete any better than they are currently. It seems like the chicken or the egg scenario as to what will happen(give them more $$ to compete better or they need to compete better to get more funding)
i will say that it is great to bring in students for these teams that may not consider Valpo otherwise..but is it really a great experience if you are in last place year in and year out with subpar facilities?I dont know the question to this, which is why I am asking

i do not think there will be an influx in funds directed to the sports mentioned so..if there is no funding why continue?also if mbb does well that $$$ should go bacjk to mens bb..not the others

Other Sports / # of athletic teams in horizon league
February 26, 2012, 06:56:34 PM
we field more teams than all other horizon league teams...
we have 17-others have 13-15
my question is why dont we cut out some of our sports that are consistently last in the standings(swimming/track etc..)
maybe we would have a better chance of winning the league trophy?maybe more funds could go to support sports that actually can win (msoc/volleyball/baseball/softball)as well as mens basketball?
any input

what has been huge is bringing in roger powell...somebody from a school other than Valpo that can coach our post players
we have not had a good coach for our big men in a long time...and it now shows in the play

i think a president or a.d. should look at the message boards to find out what the fan base is saying (after all these are ther people that buy tickets etc..)
with that said i am sure they can look at it and weight it objectively-not to make decisions ,but to rather get a feel for what those that follow the programs are thinking
the administration can wade through what is nonsense and what is legitimate
#12
how can this fall on anyone without the head coach being also part of the issue?
he recruits the players and hires the assistants  ???
#13
if you think we could be considered a threat to green bay (even with a full roster) then you really are skewed on how much talent this team has(had) and how the team is prepared
we are a middle of the pack horizon league team AT BEST
#14
if we did not have the injuries on this team some of you would come up with other excuses as to the reasons why we are not doing well..as has been the case in the past
#15
this has been an ongoing problem-we are not competitive in the horizon league...not just from our rash of injuries recently...

jack and ???
the women play the same # in rotation as the men-so this is not an excuse for losing to bad teams
most teams play only 7-8 in a rotation anyway-
we need to look at otr factors for losing -not the lack of depth-which really does not matter unless you only have 5 or 6 in rotation
