General VU Discussion / Re: Sig Tau Pictures

The most powerful guy in Nevada Sports.  The guy who is in charge of regulating MMA and boxing including the biggest fight cards.  I heard he was a Sig Tau.  Forgot his name.  Is he in any pictures?  A good friend of mine sister dated him and id like to surprise her with a link to the site.

What blows my mind is there are some really famous people in those pictures in there younger days.
Would like to see some other house books and compare.

Those guys really knew how to party.  And to think they did it without the hard core drugs like crystal meth or crack.  Hats of to them.

Who really cares.  You guys got to much time on your hands.  Those guys at Detroit probably switched careers and joined Global Water Technologies and are now working for VU alum Erik Hromadka.  I hope the VU basketball team focuses on a few more wins this year.  Perhaps one day they will return to an arena like Madison Square Garden. (weather permitting).

Yeah, I had a few friends who were Sig Taus.  Can't really generalize about them (stoners and drunks).   That would be the same as me saying TC's were a bunch of jocks with IQ's as low as a primates or Pikes being a bunch of insecure rich kids trying to impress the women that left their house and headed to Phi Psis.  The ones I know on the contrary are extremely successful.  Not sure what happened to the money management over the years but raising money for a landmark is a good thing even it is Sig Taus.  I heard the money will go to correcting the multiple building code violations, getting rid of the vermin, and building a new hydroponic system for growing some good stuff to smoke.  Heck, I gave to the library fund and realistically, who uses those anymore.  So give!!!

Nice post Ralph.  Erik Hromadka definitely deserves mention.  However, I'm surprised the V.U. description failed to mention Keith Kizer (Executive Director of Nevada Athletic Commission and noted to be in the Top 20 of most influential people in the boxing,  Doug Rich (famous recording artist) Paul Grammatico (playright) or even Mike Miller (entrepreneur & farmer)

Is the new construction one of the shovel ready jobs Obama pledged?  If so, perhaps we can make him an honorary alumni!  We made Tommy Lasorda one and look what he gave us.

It appears that the late 60s and early 70s were very openly wet.  OP Kretzman even dropped by once and shared a brew (must have been the German heritage).

Rush parties on the back patio of Phi Delt house always included Cannibal sandwiches and a keg.  Across the alley the same was true for Lambda Chi (minus the Cannibal 'wiches of course). On spring weekends there were campus open houses with brats and beer and our band "The Bondsmen."

When I think back on all of that, it really was (relatively) harmless, quite well controlled internally, and the socialization and the interpersonal lessons learned produced some pretty responsible adults who went on to be great leaders in our generation.  Although, I must admit, I remember (vaguely) a Whoppatooie (sp)  party one night that I had to force myself to run three times around the block to be able to take my date back to Scheele.  But I was lucky -- she was an upperclass women so I had till 1:00 AM.  Whew!

I'm thinking anyone graduating after 1980 is thinking ....... What ????????????

Well, now you know.  One of the reasons I'm on this forum is cuz I have such great memories of a very, very small portion of my entire life. And it was at Valpo.

Always great talking with you guys.
I'll have to agree it ended but not until the late 80's.  Leaders such as Nevada Athletic Commission Executive Director?

The Lincolnway house was Delta Sigs or some moronic organization like that.  I do recall Delta Sig being some sort of law frat and also one of two frats that openly sold alcohol on Friday afternoons for a so called happy hour.  The other one being Sig Taus.  $1.50 for a rum and coke,  Couldn't beat it.

There seemed to be a rivalry between TC's and Sig Taus.  Perhaps it was jealousy on TC's part.  Always getting the leftovers from the guys at Sig Taus after they dumped their girlfriends.  At least Sig Taus gave more then and nowadays.  I know of two Sig Taus that have hired a few Theta Chis over the years to do some manual labor.  Funny thing is they still wear their athletic uniforms.

RECENT RUMORS HEARD AROUND CAMPUS ABOUT COMMENCEMENT SPEAKERS INCLUDE A DISCREET BATTLE BY ADMINISTRATION BETWEEN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NEVADA ATHLETIC COMMISSION KEITH KIZER AND CEO OF GLOBAL WATER TECHNOLOGIES ("GWTR"TICKER SYMBOL FOR THOSE WHO INVEST) ERIK HROMADKA.  BOTH SIGMA TAU GAMMA GRADUATES AND HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUALS, THE UNIVERSITY WILL HAVE A TOUGH TIME MAKING THE DECISION.  MY PERSONAL CHOICE WOUD BE MICHAEL D MILLER WHO IS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER AND WORLD FAMOUS PHILANTHROPIST  HE HOLDS A PATENT IN ELECTRICAL NANOTECHNOLOGY WHICH WAS RECENTLY SOLD FOR MILLIONS TO A FORTUNE 500 COMPANY.  HE ALSO IS A GREAT MIXER FOR HIP HOP, REGGAE AND COUNTRY MUSIC.

The conservative values VU presented to me was a stark and often harsh change from the liberal ideology that my father a union boss with the AFL CIO brainwashed us with.
I can't recall but perhaps it started with Professor Shaw; the yearning for the truth in our overly liberal based society.  It ended with joining Sig Taus, a secret society of well to do hard line conservatives whose inner circle cleared the path to pure capitalism.

Poor choice of words neighbor.  Erik is CEO of Global Water Technologies.  That there should turn on the lights and wake VU up.  Quite qualified interesting chap he is!!!!

Ralph, don't you think the commute would be too long?  I would consider Dr. Lisa McCool or even Erik Hromadka, both of whom are very experienced and are former alumni. ;D
