Left Detroit after our loss.  Arrived at my Birmingham hotel only to find Thst my room is in the middle of the UTEP MBB block    A 4 seed in the C-USA tournament.  I'll watch to see how many fans are reported in attendance

What's up with court conditions that the Popcorn Classic was moved to the "Courts"?

starting lineups, playing time and positions are uncertainties.  But what I've found to be consistent year after year is not releasing the schedule until mid-late August.   

.  Frustrated by the lack of info too.  Certainly would like to travel to some the pre conference games but need more lead time to plan.  I asked for a a schedule but was told that it wasn't settled yet.  I don't need the whole schedule just what away games that have been confirmed

Has anyone heard or seen any other information about VU playing in Nov in Las Vegas.  I thought I saw that we would be in a tournament with Alabama, Minnesotta but don't have any details.

I've been sitting back and waiting to weigh in on the Skara issue.  I just have to remind us all about the challenges that David is facing if he bucks his "handlers".  There are cultural and social implications at stake for him that are far beyond basketball at the collegiate level or professionally in Europe.  He will be virtually be a pariah in the social network of Croations here in the US and possibly in his own country if he backs down and comes back to Valpo without the "consent" of his "agents".  All in all a bad situation and one that we haven't had to face at Valpo but other programs have. 

I expect most of the crowd to be pulling for GW either because they are the perceived underdog or because they have about twice as many students and presumed alumni base plus, DC is only a 4.5 hour drive.

Dan Dakich seemed to indicate that 7'0" or 7'1" was a large stretch for Smits.  He indicated that he was closer to 6'10".  Do we have any confirmation that he is a true 7-footer?

What is all the talk about the need to stay either 1 or 3 nights?  I believe there is a consolation game on Thursday prior to the  title game so all the teams will play 2 games.  You surely don't mean the band would be there for the first game and if they lose will not be there for the Thursday game?

Does one have to buy a separate ticket for the NIT consolation game?

there is no consolation game...only the Championship game on Thurs.  I think the 3rd night is because they will leave on Friday morning after the Thursday night game

The alumni bus trip details are out - if anyone doesn't have them let us know, we could probably post them here. $200 for the bus trip from Valpo, leaving Monday just before midnight! I think that does _not_ include tickets. Maybe I'll give that info at least.

So much for LeCrone's spin that the upset of Valparaiso displayed the strength of the Horizon League. No offense to Green Bay but this was an embarrassment for the HL, and the score diminishes the Horizon League in the eyes of viewers, whose opinions of the conference will be lessened, impacting seeding of HL teams in next year's tourney. .

Let's approach a little more realistically.  I don't see us moving from the HL next year or the year after but ...more TV exposure is critical.  I appreciate the opportunity to stream the few away games the "four on the floor" we travel with can't get to but the vast majority of fans either cannot or don't know how to stream.  As much as a anything, the kids want the exposure and the chance for their family and friends see them play.   The conundrum is that it is hard to get TV exposure without playing big time teams and harder to schedule games (even on their floor) with big time teams

Fortunately, this isn't how the selection committee works. Detroit got a 15 seed in 2012, the year after back to back finals contestants came from the Horizon.

I do worry about the loss of the recruiting advantage the Horizon had from all of their tournament wins. This is the 5th straight year without a tournament win. This league has had NBA-level talent (more compared to most other mid major leagues) and a couple of top mid major teams (uwgbs Sykes/brown team and this year's Valpo team), but haven't had a great chance to win games in the dance. Last year was the closest the league came to a win since Butler.

I had no problem with Detroit's #15 seeding. Like Green Bay, they were a third place team with a somewhat mediocre season record. I did have a problem with Valpo's #13 seeding last year (seeded #51 overall by the NCAA) with a 28-5 record, a conference regular season championship, and a conference tournament championship. A higher seeding last year and Valpo might very well have an NCAA Tourney win. I also had a problem with this year being left out of the Dance because the RPI was brought down by the HL overall RPI.

Do we season ticket holders get first crack at our seats? (I'm assuming this is the case, unless we've sold out most of the chairbacks already.)

Worth calling the box office? I assume they're holding them for you - I can't get three together in the center chairback section, for example.

watched the video clip of Donlon's rant a couple of times now just to process it all.  While I think he has at least two legitimate gripes,  he did make a back handed stab at Valpo that I didn't appreciate.  I'm just gonna put this out there tho....Paris Bass first team? He has mad skills but only played 22 regular season games due to suspensions, has not started several games due to disciplinary reasons etc.  No wonder Donlon questions why JT Yoho wasn't a first or second team selection.

Kampe has a great sense of humor and can laugh at himself.  I got to meet and talk with him during the intermission. 

So he is not the monster that has a stroke almost every game that so many on here think he is?

And not the egotistical nightmare that many on here have painted him to be.

. I'm sorry but I have to like Kampe, his humor and passion on the floor make for an exciting game.  I also appreciate how kind and generous he is with students. I won't forget the MidCon tournament where Kampe sat with the Valpo student section after Oakland got knocked out
