I am still mystified on aforementioned rim protector red shirting. Seems incredibly short sighted given the CBB landscape. The odds of any player staying 5 years at a school (not named Drake) is very low. Hell, it's 50/50 Powell will be here in 5 years, either moving up or moving out. Would think some real game experience would do him good and let the staff know exactly what they have going into what is their first FULL offseason as a group.

I think it's important to keep our frustration for the way this season has gone in the right place, which is squarely directed at whoever allowed that ridiculous buyout clause in Lottich's contract extension. All my years following this awesome sport I've never heard of a buyout dropping almost a month after the season ended. Seems like both Padilla & Small have had to spend their first year(s) on the job cleaning up the mess of their predecessors. RP2's first year kneecapped before he even walked in the door.

Going to give this 23-24 team one of the worst insults I can give to a sports team.

They're boring.

Uninteresting. Unremarkable. Unwatchable.

But in Rev we trust. (Once he has a full, real recruiting class of his players)

So this means we get the 1st pick in the draft right?

Remember that weirdly optimistic feeling?  Yeah it's gone.

But back to back home losses to Chicago State is embarrassing. Period. End of story.

The team that took the court tonight will go winless in the MVC. Hopefully we improve.

Just because this was expected doesn't make it any less disappointing. Good effort Valpo.

Unless there's an injury it really makes no sense to redshirt anyone in today's NCAA. The odds of a player staying five years at a school is next to nil. In addition this is clearly a rebuild / transition year for the program. If he has a nagging injury and the staff isn't sure if/when he's available then it makes sense. Otherwise let's see what we have.

In the past, the winning has glossed over many of the issues we've talked about on this board. Even in those years we had to deal with parking issues, flushless restrooms that constantly smell like urine, subpar concessions, an awful sound system, aisles with more tripping hazards than a lego convention, kids running around the track screaming while the ball is in play, etc.

To be fair, it feels like we're on the track to correcting some of these issues. The new lighting and scoreboard is a great step in that direction. But you're not going to see the ARC anywhere over half full at best until there's a consistently winning product on the floor.
