Moussa just looks like a beast to go up against.  Interesting that he played against Oakland last year while at Alabama.

in all seriousness, if Karungi is 6-2, what does that make the girls next to her?

My guess is 6'5" or maybe 6'6".  Maybe Karungi is not wearing shoes??   ;) and the lady next to her is wearing high heals??

The side stripe on the shorts look a bit goofy - it seems to get bigger towards the bottom.

I've always thought the university uniforms -- regardless of the sport -- looked better with word "Valparaiso" on the front instead of just "Valpo."  I think the uniforms back in the 60s and 70s said "Valparaiso."  I think that was better.

While I'm at it, when did colleges start playing ball in early November?  It wasn't that long ago the season started around December 1st.  The first week of November is too early to be playing games.

78crusader, I agree that 'Valparaiso' would look better on the basketball uniforms, but I think the rebrand for basketball was due to the common mispronunciation of the university's name by television commentators for basketball games. Plus, ESPN started abbreviating school names for the corner scoreboards that became permanent fixtures on the tv screen, so the administration decided a rebrand to 'Valpo' read better on tv screens, plus the commentators were saying Valpo more often anyway.

In terms of the basketball season starting earlier, due to the scholarship constraints, players can't get jobs during the academic year. Once classes are in session, the players are only allowed to go to class, study, and practice. They can't be servers, dishwashers, cooks at the cafeterias or be residential advisors in the dorms or anything like that. They are limited monetarily because of the commitment they signed to on the dotted line in their NLIs. Coaches also have a dead period where they can't contact any recruits, and they couldn't meet with their team in an official capacity yet, so they talked the NCAA into changing the offseason schedule, so they could do more than just work on practice plans, talk with players individually, and sit around watching old game tape to keep busy. In most cases, it just makes a long season even longer, but a lot of teams haven't started official practices yet, just had more chances to hold some individual or small group/position time to work on skills and such. Not sure I like it yet, but give it a couple of years to see how coaches really feel about it.

As a kid in the '70s, I remember going to games around mid November.  I would say that the unofficial start of the basketball season is around Veteran's Day, so the first week is a little early, but not a huge movement over the years.

The VU basketball media guide indicates that in the 1950-1990 time period, the first game of the year was occasionally played around the last couple days of November, but most of the time the first game was played on December 1. As late as the 1992-93 season the first game was played on Dec 1. Last couple years the first game has been before Nov 10. I just think that is too early and makes the season too long for these guys.
