Quote from: wh on January 26, 2014, 01:38:18 PMYep, guilty as charged.  Taking total delight in the misery of the most arrogant, condescending fans I have ever encountered.  Just remain humble and thank God that you're better than that.
Quote from: valpo95 on January 28, 2014, 08:20:15 AMThe word here is schadenfreude, taking great pleasure in the misfortunes of others.  Now, it is hard exhibit such feelings for the longsuffering fans of UIC, but we all can smile a bit at those who drank the Butler Kool-aid.
I just don't see these two as being able to exist together. If someone is humble does this person use schadenfreude? Are there any examples of Jesus using schadenfreude in the bible? I'm far from the person who should be pointing this out but it seems that when Valpo fans cling to what is very small accomplishments compared to the overall big picture it makes this board seem to not be practicing the values that I'm sure our own basketball coaches would never want our team (or fans) to practice.

They don't.  a3uge labeled me as bitter, childish and ignorant for delighting in the misery of Butler fans.  After readily pleading "guilty as charged" I encouraged him to remain humble and thank God that he is a better person than I.  I didn't want him to follow my disgraceful example and fall prey to sinful behavior himself by sitting in judgement over me.

Or, if you choose, you can "lighten up" as '72 suggests and let us who have a long Valpo-Butler history have some innocent fun.   ;)

One of my favorite Crusader videos of all time.  Who knew at the time that only a few weeks later Butler would be playing in the national championship game (again)!

Love it.  I miss Rowdy and Kenney.  Look at them as Sophomores in that game!  You can even see KVW's future passion on his two made buckets.  We need a passion guy....

Wow, that was a clinic on how to beat double team pressure on the perimeter.  The Ryan jump pass over 2 defenders to a wide open Kevin underneath was just one of several examples.

Now that's a reason to rush the court.  Oakland rushing the court over a win against UIC was ridiculous.
CRUSADERS!!!

A very sad development - former Butler player Andrew Smith has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  He has been undergoing treatment in Indianapolis.  His return to Lithuania and a pro playing career is uncertain.

Following is a very touching letter written by Andrew's wife Samantha called "Kicking Cancer with the Smiths":

My thoughts and prayers that Andrew will make a full and speedy recovery.
