Was our attendance of 1,099 for this game the lowest in decades for a D-1 opponent?  I know that kids are on Spring Break, it was cold, and the game had to be arranged on a few days notice, but wow!

Yes. Lowest recorded even with non-D1 in years. But the HL Tourney home games are the poorest attended games. In 2010 we had 1255 against Detroit, and the next year we had 1201 against YSU. I think they count a bit differently though. That Iona CIT game had 1482 and I think there were less than 500 people there.

Big factor was 1. Weekday game 2. Only a few days to sell tickets. 3. Crappy opponent 4. Students being on spring break

1,099 on attendance seems quite low, I would have guessed twice that just eyeballing it. I'm sure the VHS game had over 1000.

Anyway, remarkable game for Peters, mediocre by LVD and the bigs. So many missed free throws -- that's something I'll admit to taking for granted the last few years. That will bite us against better opponents.

Our opponents move up the Lake -- UIC, now UWM, then hopefully UWGB.

What I didn't know was that from 5:30-6pm, I litterally was the only fan there lol.

I suppose a fair number were at the pep rally... Was it in hilltop?

I have posted 15 photos from the pep rally, including the one below, at the following link. Perhaps you will see some familiar faces: http://www.flickr.com/photos/96208998@N05/sets/72157641910375415/

I know this was mentioned elsewhere, but I think you need to add a #5 to your list and that would be opening games for Boys High School Sectional play.  I was at New Haven High School watching the Cadets play Garrett and listening to Todd on the radio.

Awesome pics.  I didn't know that we created banners for championships/NCAA appearances prior to 1994-1995, so that is good to see!

Wow! The pictures look like they came from an old folks home, complete with walkers!  Somehow we need to be attracting younger families as fans otherwise eventually...

Congrats to Bryce! Savoring a win with his players, he leaves the court after his 100th game as head coach and now owns the best record by a Valpo head coach after 100 games (66-34):

I know a couple of grade-school age kids that were planning to go.  But... it's a school night!

From the UIC board:

"At least we can be happy that Valpo is winning with local guys? Be proud of our great high school hoops (only to all leave)"

63 of our 73 points last night scored by our IL guys. I would be frustrated too.

I now have posted a gallery of photos from the game, including the two below, at the following link for all to enjoy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/96208998@N05/sets/72157641956955643/

It's my understanding that the attendance count for post-season games during spring break is more accurate than regular season games because there are few students/staff using their passes so attendance is much more of an actual "turnsytle count" and less estimating.
