I remember when Gary started for the Jets on the offensive line on a Monday Night Football game with Dandy Don, Frank Gifford and How-wwwaaard Co-ssssell in the middle 1970's. Howard tried to pronounce Valparaiso and of course messed it up badly (ok, probably just changed the sound of the a to an i) and Don Meredith laughing at him. That is the first night I ever remember Valpo being mentioned on national TV. We weren't division 1 back then, we were "college" division/Div II, and only from an 18,000 population town just outside the reaches of Chicago.
