What a bad hire that would be. From what I've seen, Pat Knight is an awful basketball coach. Although, to be fair, it'd be better to judge him after a stint at a school where basketball is more of a priority of the athletics department than at TT.

I'm not sure about a new arena. They are working on new locker rooms and team areas right now, so perhaps they redo the inside of the GC, but nothing more than that.

I have no knowledge of their plans...but my team plays there once a year, and they are building new locker rooms. It doesn't seem to make much sense to put a bunch of money into your facility if you're going to build a new one...that's my thinking.

I would agree that Knight may not be the right fit for Loyola. Another former IU player might be looking for a step up: Dane Fife. I think he has done a good job at IPFW, especially given his age, coaching experience (at the time of hire) and IPFW being mostly a commuter school (tougher recruiting). His teams have been competitive in the Summit, and it might be the right time for him to look upward.

That would be like going from Milwaukee to Youngstown St. Not that he would switch from one conference school to another like that, but just for the sake of the idea.

Bradley is a pretty appealing job. They had a crappy year this year and they still doubled UWM's attendance. They are the only school in town. UWM will always be second fiddle to Marquette. They are in the MVC, which is a step up to the HL. Bradley also has a basketball budget of almost 3 million a year.

I would agree that Bradley is an appealing job, for the reasons you listed. As far as moving conferences, I don't see how the MVC is a step up. Conference ratings change from year to year, but both HL and MVC are very competitive in basketball. The only step up would be to a BCS conference, or maybe Mountain West.

Over the last decade, the MVC has finished ahead of the HL every year but once and they usually finish several spots ahead of us.

In the world of perception, the MVC is a better conference than the Horizon. They've had more at large teams over the last 5-10 years than the Horizon, which is how most people judge conference success. I think the Horizon is a nice league but in much the same way the WCC is Gonzaga, the Horizon is Butler (yes I know they didn't win it this year). I know that all the other Horizon League fans will be upset by that, but ask somebody who doesn't have a horse in the race who won the league, most will say Butler. That's just the way it is.

Technically, Butler did win the HL this year, they just didn't get the #1 seed in the tournament. Butler has every right to hang a HL Regular Season Champion banner for this year just as Milwaukee and Cleveland State do.

Porter Moser could be interesting. His last head coaching job was at Illinois State. Going from a middling-to-low MVC team to a middling-to-low Horizon League team.
