I'm guessing the contract for the game against Hanover was "han'over"-ed before Butler was forced to the A-10 early? If so, then the A-10 can't really have issue with that for this year, since it would have been too late to kill that contract.

Nicely done...

I thought being in the A-10 meant no more D2 or D3 opponents? Butler just beat Hanover (?), a D3, by 22.  Nice win for them.

I was also disappointed when I saw this on the schedule.  When I asked about it, I was told they had trouble finding a DI school willing to play them in Hinkle on such late notice.  The DIII game did require a waiver from the A-10.  It stinks to have a team like that on the schedule, but at least they avoided playing Chaminade in Maui and were able to get a few good opponents (Marquette, UNC, Illinois) out there.  They've played these types of tournaments in the past and will continue with the Old Spice, Battle 4 Atlantis and Puerto Rico Tip-Off the next 3 seasons.

On that topic, I'm curious if Valpo will make a push to participate in more of the exempt tournaments that are truly "bracketed" tournaments, instead of the one's they've participated in the past?  It just seems that tourneys like Maui give you a much better chance to face some good teams on a neutral court, which would help with Valpo's non-conference SOS.

We would have to be invited to Maui, which just won't happen unless we become more prominent lol.  We have gone to a few tournaments like that when I was in school (Great Alaskan Shootout, Fiesta Bowl Classic, etc), but not recently for some reason.

Yeah, I'm sick of these "Legends Classic" style thingies we've been involved in lately.  Valpo "won" the Nebraska Classic, or some such thing?  What does that even mean?  They won their own pod involving 3 underdog teams.  They were feted (if anyone noticed) as if they were the Iowa Hawkeyes winning their own holiday tourney or something.

:crazy:  ::)
