"New" button is not taking user to newest post

I noticed that when I clicked on the "new" button on the end of a thread topic title that I'm taken to the newest post but then it immediately jumps to the top of the page. Is this something that was changed when that slowness hit the website server? Was that one of the things that was done to help the website be quicker during this period? Or is this something that is only happening on my computer?

It makes the "new" button obsolete if it doesn't take you to the newest post.

I haven't seen that problem.  What I may have experienced from time to time (and you referenced the very topic I have in mind) is the sensation that it is displaying the top of the page because it's not done rendering yet.  Eventually, it does jump down to the newest post, though it is possible that if you intervene with a mouse click, that might subvert it.
