Valpo's site lists 56 as vusupporter mentioned.  That has to be the most accurate.  Once again, love correcting Saders :):

Actually, it could also be the most biased.

EDIT:  tracked down the VU game by game (that is, Valpo's account).  Remember, VU says 56 while the ESPN group says 55.

...whoo boy, this will not be easy.

LaPorteAveApostle

First discrepancy:  VU credits him with 6 for Maine, ESPN etc. 5.

Next:  VU credits him with 3 for Portland, ESPN for 4.  So tied again.

Those are the only discrepancies.

So the problem is one of addition, since they add, not the same set of numbers, but the same numeric equivalents (i.e. 6+3=5+4).

The answer is, for some reason, 56:  ESPN etc.'s numbers add up to 56, but they claim 55.

UPDATE:  VASHIL JUST GOT OVER HIS SENIORAITIS
3.  JR Raitis 66
t4. SR VASHIL 58
t4. Jr Vashil 58

So...he's fit to be tied.  (unlike Moussa, who was fit to be Tide.)  HEYO

Anyway, he has as many as all last year...and he has at least 13 more games.  If he averages 7 a game, he'll catch RAITIS...

Wrong!  We've seen some much longer posts before. You guys are getting pretty silly.

OK... back to the "Record Watch".  (Rolex).... but seriously folks...

Lets talk Defense.   Through 19 games this year, we've only given up 1,151 points.  60.58 oppg   The last time we were that low?     1951-52   58.04 oppg; 1,393 for the entire 24-game season.

Lets talk Offense.  Through 19 games this year, we've scored, 1,398 points.  73.58 ppg.  The last time we were that high was 2005-06 with 78.76 for the year.

I know you are just dying to know:

We won 1,277 games and lost 1,167 games

Would be better to know over how many seasons for all of them.

I respectfully disagree  ;)

Bartow's 93 wins over 13 seasons averages out to just over 7 wins a season -- terrible.  Oh, wait. He was only at Valpo for 6 seasons.  That's 15+ games per season.  Much better.

But I could also go for the overall games coached vs. wins.  Bartow according to the Valpo Athletic site records has a 92-70 W/L record.

Tom Smith, on the other hand, had 84 wins. Over 4 seasons that would be 21 wins preseason,  But wait (again) he was here for 8 seasons, so his wins per season was half that -- 10.5.  His overall record was 84-138.

I like Bryce.  82 wins.  Over 3.6 seasons = 22.7 wins per season.  Pretty cool.  82-39 overall.  Either way you cut it it is helpful.  Actually I REALLY like Bryce.  Scary, with those numbers, he might not be around much longer.  Geez, I hope he stays at least this season and the next two.

** For Bryce to get to the Shadoan % level...    if we won the next 57 games in a row... that would be 78.53% (139-38).... so we need 58 consecutive wins.

LaPorteAveApostle

Thanks, that's very helpful.  I would think you need a minimum 50 games coached to be eligible for top win %, so BRYCE IT IS!

George Keogan was not at Valpo for long but he did become a famous coach in three sports at a school about a one hour drive from Valpo.

George E. Keogan (March 8, 1890 – February 17, 1943) was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach, most known for coaching University of Notre Dame from 1923 to 1943. Keogan never had a losing season in his 20 years at Notre Dame.

The Minnesota Lake, Minnesota native attended University of Minnesota from 1909 to 1913. He began coaching high school varsities after his freshman year in college, guiding first Lockport High School (1910–1911) followed by Riverside High School (1911–1912). Meanwhile he was also coaching several college basketball teams: Charles City College in Iowa (1909–1910), Superior State Teachers College in Wisconsin (1912–1914), Saint Louis University(1914–15) and the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota (1917–1918). During World War I he served at Great Lakes Naval Training Station. After briefly coaching Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania (1919–1920) and Valparaiso, Keogan arrived at University of Notre Dame. He served as head basketball and baseball coach, as well as assistant to the legendary football coach Knute Rockne. Keogan compiled a 327–96–1 at Notre Dame.

Keogan died on February 17, 1943 of a heart attack at his home in South Bend, Indiana.[1] After his death, Moose Krause took over his job as Notre Dame's head basketball coach.

But I could also go for the overall games coached vs. wins.  Bartow according to the Valpo Athletic site records has a 92-70 W/L record.

Bartow   13*   12      *Includes a forfeit by Indiana State.  I added the forfeit twice, it was already in the totals.
Bartow   18   10
Bartow   21   8
Bartow   11   15
Bartow   16   12
Bartow   13   13
                92    70   is correct  56/79%

another odds n' ends, from a new Rex Ryan fan:

Vashil FT Soph:  28.6% (cut to Shaq shaking head sadly)
Vashil FT Junr:  47.7%
Vashil FT Senr:  63.5% (waves tiny flag)

Alec Peters
At 18.15 ppg Alec is on pace for 581, or the 6th best season of all time (down from 5).
Two more games or so--34 more points--would leave him 3rd -- he would pass sr Tracy Gipson and sr and jr Bryce.

Alec is also on pace for 86 3FG this year, which would leave him 6th, down from a previously-forecast second with sr Bryce.
47.2% is still pretty good (you guys) and would be 5th.

Keith Carter ... I don't want to talk about it.  singletear.gif

Vashil's still hanging around at #12 in the country for blocks per game, now with most players having significant statistics.  (#4 for blocks, which sounds better, but....)

Alec's fallen out of the top 50 for 3PT %.

Vashil's chances at leading the nation in blocked shots just got better. Washington's Robert Upshaw, the nation's leader in blocked shots, has been dismissed by his university.

He was smoking hot (or at least a word that rhymes with hot).

Washington Huskies junior 7-footer Robert Upshaw has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules, the school announced.

"We wish Rob well as he moves forward in his life, and we will do our best to support him in the future," Washington coach Lorenzo Romar said in a statement.

Upshaw, who transferred to UW from Fresno State, has failed multiple drug tests while at both schools, sources close to the situation told ESPN.

The ultra-talented big man averaged 10.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game for the Huskies and leads the nation in blocks.

Washington is coming off a loss at Utah on Sunday in which Upshaw scored 13 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked five shots. The Huskies (14-5, 3-4 Pac-12) will host Stanford on Wednesday.

In Things No One Predicted This Year, Vashil has the season block record ... before February.

With 73 blocks, he has the record, but he's not going to pass Raitis for the all-time record (unless the NCAA wises up and finally gives him that extra year of eligibility).

So he's in block limbo.  73 blocks season (old record Moussa's 72) and 145 career (interestingly...had 72 in his previous two years...now has lapped himself, so to speak).  145 still far behind Raitis' 228, unless he starts averaging 8 a game.

So let's turn to other things.

Most points, first two seasons
1) Bryce, 912
2) Alec, 859 (speaking of passing self's entire previous career--almost! 433 last year, 426 this)

At his current rate of 17.8 ppg, Alec could tie or break this record with 3 more games.  Pace would give him 570 for the season, or the 8th best season ever.

Since slowing his torrid early pace, Alec's on pace for the 6th most 3s in a season, with 81 (61 now).  His current rate of 46.2% is good for 5th all-time, should it hold.
