talksalot, didn't Jason Maxiell play for Cincinnati in Fall 2003, and go on to the NBA?

as a Pistons fan I thought of that...but I could have sworn that game was at Cincy.  huh.

04-05 - Lost At Cincinnati 88-70 (November 19, 2004)
03-04 - Lost in ARC 68-49  (December 2, 2003)
02-03 - Lost At Cincinnati 76-50  (December 2, 2002)
90-91 - Lost At Cincinnati 90-47  (February 25, 1991)
47-48 - WON at Cincinnati 75-69 (January 10, 1948)...then we went on an 11-game losing streak...

Maxiel played in the game at the ARC. I remember that big, bad dude. :)

StlVUFan

I saw Maxiell play for Cincy against Illinois New Year's Eve 2004 in Las Vegas.  I would guess he was a senior that year.

Another Maxiell moment

Brad Miller, Chris Kaman, Etwaun Moore and Juwaun Johnson. Was Wesley Mathews on that Marquette team? Gordon Hayward, Sheldon Mack, Norris Cole, Ray McCallum. Keith Closs, Jeff Nordgaard, Logan VandenVelden, Sherrell Ford.

And don't forget:Meadow Lark Lemon,Marquis Haynes,Goose Tatum and others. Damn they were good.

All this trivia is good fun.  But, I'm also curious about the "usual" uproar of the thread.

Does Alec have any chance at the siphon scoring record?  Any other season records in view, apart from the 3% which seems pretty likely?

I think yes, because lately other people have been siphoning quite a lot of points from him

Not sure what you're referring to...he'll set season records, but not this year, I don't think.

Sorry, sloppy fast typing and runaway autocorrect.

I guess this update probably did happen after our last game.  Funny how the basketball clock seems to slow down in crunch time.

Most points, first two seasons
1) Bryce, 912
2) Alec, 909

3FG%, season
4) jr Casey Schmidt 47.7%
5) Alec, 46.6%
6) soph Scott Anselm, 46.1%

3FG%, career
t6.  Alec, 42.3%
t6.  Rob Cavanaugh, 42.3%

(I'm sure they're not literally tied, but I can't find any of Rob's stats to break it down further.)

As an aside, Alec has 125 3s in his first 60 games.  Needs just 25 to make T10, career.

No trivia since there's still a live question on the floor.

LaPorteAveApostle

I know...I was just teasing ; )

The Incredible Lance Barker's record is likely safe; Alec would have to make his next 18 in a row or so just to get there.

Look for Alec to get the first 2-years' scoring mark tonight even before Bryce can waste his first TO ; )

1) Alec, 926
2) Bryce, 912

3FG%, season
4) jr Casey Schmidt 47.7%
5) Alec, 46.7%
6) soph Scott Anselm, 46.1%

3FG%, career
5. Colclasure, 42.6%
6.  Alec, 42.5%

Interesante:  Last year, Alec 57 for 149 from 3.  This year, on his first 149 attempts, he hit 70 (now 70 for 150).

As an aside, Alec has 127 3s in his first 60 games.  Needs just 23 to make T10, career, already.

What is it about HL refs/rims/cheerleaders/conspiracies?  That's who I blame for this split.
Soph Vashil: Non-con, 30.8% FTs; In-con, 0% (0 for 1)
Jr Vashil: Non-con, 55.8% FTs; In-con, 39.5% (same ATT in each half, 43)
Sr Vashil: Non-con, 63.4% FTs; In-con, 40.5%

To recap:  Vashil in non-conference play, 55.7%
In conference: 39.5% FTs

Actually, it's probably the extra 2.5 inches away that HL free throw lines are from the basket.

What's the record on T's in a season?  Bryce has two now..
CRUSADERS!!!

agibson

There for a while I was wondering about the record for fewest FT's in a game.

agibson

I wonder what the VU records are for conference wins, conference record, and home conference wins and record?

LaPorteAveApostle

Quote from: agibson on February 22, 2015, 10:14:14 PMconference wins
in HL:  14, 2011-12 (over 18 games)
13, 2012-13 (over 16 games)
in Mid-Con: 13, 1996-97, 1997-98, 2000-01 (over 16 games)
14, 1993-94, 1994-95 (over 18 games)
in AMCU:  5, 1985-86 (over 14 games)

Really interesting to see the schedule inflation.  I remember when teams played 28-29 games.  Long gone!

Alec needs just 15 points to reach 1000 for his first two years.

Statsheet says he's #10 in the country in 3FG%, but I am having trouble believing that at 46.2%, which is only the 5th best season in school history.  42.5% for his career, .1% behind Colclasure who's 5th overall.

Right?  that's weird.  perhaps difference in "number of attempts needed to qualify"?

Noted that UC Davis has 3 of the top 10 (according to stat sheet).

BB State says he's #55th.  THAT i believe.

I find it interesting that a freshman SUU T-Bird player is the number one 3FG% shooter in the nation with over 50%. That is amazing.
