STLVUFAN--if you are referring to what Cincy ran at the end of the game, it was not anything close to Pacer. They ran an in bounds play from under their own basket, and it was designed to get the ball back to the inbounder, I think Kirkpatrick, he had his shot blocked and then a Cincy forward caught it and threw it to the basket where it went in, but time had already expired. New Mexico (and UCLA last night) both did a nice job in using their extra fouls before the bonus to slow down Cincy (and Missouri) when the game was tied or only a 1 point lead. By fouling in the backcourt, both defending teams were able to take time off the clock. UCLA almost screwed up when with the score tied, their defender roughly fouled Pressey and it should have been called an intentional (Pressey did sell it well and some might argue his flying mid-air nearly 180 was a flop).

I have no idea whether it was at the end of the game or not, as I didn't see the game.  Andy Glockner tweeted that Cincy ran the Valpo play, only this time the shot didn't go in.  I assumed he knew what he was talking about, especially since I replied to him with the correct name of the play and he immediately retweeted it to his followers.

Not sure how it works, but Toledo was ranked 135 in the Sagarins and beating them has got to help anyone ranked below them.

vu72, just wait until the MAC season starts, and Toledo becomes the next Loyola or UIC...

vuweathernerd

it's really too bad we played new mexico too. otherwise that slu game would have been a boost.

Assuming the NM-STL game is a wash for Valpo. Chicago St.'s victory over Toledo improved Valpo's RPI by 3 spots, moving from 117 to 114.

I guess if Valpo can win on the road against a name opponent and Chicago State can beat Toledo then IUPUI can beat Maryland. The Jags are up 19-9 on the Terps with about 12 minutes to go in 1st half.

Sorry, 04.

What the heck is up with Missouri State?  They go 0-10 in their non-conference schedule, but have 3 decent wins in conference already to be 3-0?  I don't mind the recent wins, but where was this effort in the games outside of against us?

They are young, I knew they would compete once they grew a little.  They won me a lot of money last night as Vegas gave them points.

Since Missouri State was the only one of our opponents playing I listened to the end of the game on a Springfield,MO radio station. The game was very close and Illinois State got it down to 3 twice.

The guy who made the difference was Anthony Downing at the end. He made free throws and hit jumpers that he wasn't making earlier in the season. Downing had 24 points. According to the Bears colorman on radio this was the first big win for MSU since their other 2 wins in conference came against Drake and Southern Illinois who look to be the bottom dwellers in the MVC. Illinois State had played a very close game against Louisville and had beaten Dayton. But the radio guy also pointed out that the Redbirds have been streaky this year losing to Northwestern, Louisville and Wyoming in three consecutive games and then immediately after beating Western Michigan, Morgan State, Dayton and Austin Peay in consecutive games. Also it didn't hurt MSU to be playing at home.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both Illinois State and Missouri State in the upper half of the MVC by tournament time.
