That is comparing them for the full year.  I believe that the HL POY only takes into account the conference season.  Rowdy's numbers have gone down in conference
I believe it's simply up to voters to determine what criteria to vote on. That said, I'd agree with you that the conference season is a very important measuring tool.

FINAL UPDATES: This week's updated PERs (http://tinyurl.com/030213PER) plus a new spreadsheet with week-by-week PER comparisons (http://tinyurl.com/WeekByWeekPER)

Going to the question in this thread, the time is now come to determine who really is the best in the HL? Here's my quick two cents:

POY: Ryan Broekhoff
1st Team: Ray McCallum
1st Team: Kendrick Perry
1st Team: Kevin Van Wijk
1st Team: Ben Averkamp
Best of the Rest: Nick Minnerath

Possibly some pro-Valpo, anti-Detroit biases included. We can debate further when you wish. Just for now, I liked Averkamp's consistency and his leading play for LUC. Minnerath played big down the stretch and certainly would earn All-League honors in reality even if he's not in my top five. Broekhoff played well on another regular season champion, and I give him the edge over McCallum, who's still got skill in his own right with his own good team.

Who's your "Top 5?" Who's your POY? Whose performances in the last six weeks impressed you?

I think that it will be close for POY.  Rowdy's numbers weren't as good over the last few games, which worries me that Ray Jr will sneak in

I agree. It was neck and neck until Ryan settled into being really good instead of great these last few games. It's just the way things go sometimes.

CBSSports.com: 56th on Jeff Goodman's "Big Board" (Feb. 5th), 53rd pick in Mock Draft (Feb. 5th) http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/players/playerpage/1779891/ray-mccallum
NBADraft.net: 59th on Aran Smith's "Big Board" (Feb. 3rd), 48th pick in Mock Draft (Feb. 20th) http://nbadraft.net/players/ray-mccallum
DraftExpress.com: 42nd pick on Jonathan Givony's Mock Draft (Feb. 11th) http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Ray-McCallum-5718/
HoopsReport.com: 42nd pick in Mock Draft (Feb. 24th) http://thehoopsreport.com/draft.aspx
ESPN.com: 35th on Chad Ford's "Big Board" (Feb. 15th) http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/mens-college-basketball/rumors/post/_/id/890/is-ray-mccallum-a-first-rounder-in-2013 (Insider access needed)
Since I keep going back to these occasionally, I'm just going to get some updates when I see things.

3/4- Draft Express updated its boards a few days ago and McCallum is no longer listed... weird.
3/10- NBADraft.net really downgraded Jr. Down to 92nd on the Big Board. Knocked back to #52 on the mock draft. He's also back to #45 on the Hoops Report mock.

Anyone know when he'll make his decision or how we'll find out about that? Maybe he'll do an hour-long HLN special hosted by Will Haskett to announce where he'll take his talents ;)

If he does anything, and HLN covers it, Will Haskett would be the Jim Gray, and Jim Barbar would be the guy to welcome us all to the "Ray McCallum is going back to Detroit", so his dad has one more year of work.

i'm going to utter "2013 HL POY Ray McCallum" in the same tone of voice I have heretofore reserved for "1987 AL MVP Jorge Bell"

I get your point.  However, you must be a Tigers fan  :), as I don't see anything wrong with George Bell winning: .308 BA, .352 OBP, .605 SLG, 47 HR, 134 RBI, and 111 R.  It isn't about the best player on the best team each time.  I see Ray getting the award over Rowdy as much more based on reputation, than say a Bell/Trammell conspiracy.

But they didn't have the advanced statistics back then, or video for every game.  It was more of the eyeball vote in regards to stats and a few other things.  If it happened nowadays, I would agree with you, due to the advanced measurements.

That would be the perfect kitten if we'd have lost to Seton Hall in the Dance. Of course, Seton Hall won't be in the Dance.
