According to Roy and Harv Schmidt of Illinois Prep Bulls-eye in an article from today, Valpo is hosting an unofficial visit from a class of 2015 recruit this weekend. Julian Torres, a 6-8 PF out of Bolingbrook High School is the recruit visiting.

Valpo offered center Seth Adelsperger today. He is currently listed as 6'11" and is from Peru IN.

I'm guessing he's still growing. Since I've seen him listed at 6'8, 6'9, 6'10, and 6'11. I can tell you from seeing him on campus he's definitely 6'11. Wouldn't shock me if he breaches the 7 foot mark since he is only a junior and might have some more growing left in him.

From a few videos I've seen he seems to move pretty well. He did look pretty short as if you consider 6' 8" being short but that was from his sophomore season and I would he has grown quite a bit since then. Nice to see an offer on the board to a center.

Would be good to replace some of the height we will be losing!

The article date (which was originally wrong) as posted on Illinois Prep Bulls-eye has been corrected, so thought I'd re-post the same article with the corrected date. Hopefully the visit this past weekend went well.

Verbal Commits has him at 6'8" and 225 pounds.  Good size!

So far, we're only competing with Indiana State:

Reports are that Ryan Fazekas (2015) of Michigan City Marquette has apparently committed to Providence. Valpo was the first to offer him a scholarship. Sorry to see him get away, and I'm surprised by such an early commitment, especially to Providence.

LaPorteAveApostle

he just seems like a Catholic school kid (which I'm ultimately fine with).

Aren't they in the New Big East?

That is surprising that he chose Providence, except that he would be playing against some really good competition in the Big East, with some of the teams fairly close to home.

Yep.  PC is in the heart of Providence, RI.  It is one of the most attractive little cities in New England.  PC plays all their games in the Dunk (Dunkin Donuts Center) that has 12,000 seats.  The campus is somewhat less than Valpo's (very crowded). Up the hill is Brwon University --gorgeous Ivy League.  Being in the NBE is definitely DEE ONE.

Just thought I'd note that I saw big man recruit Seth Adelsperger at the Murray State game. I am pleased he got to see a good game in which freshmen got plenty of playing time, the crowd was energized, especially the student section, and Valpo won.

Aaron Jordan has committed to Illinois.

More about Dillard: "Bowman's standout basketball player Davon Dillard knocked a teammate unconscious in a bloody fight before the season started, according to a Gary police report obtained by the Post-Tribune...."

Verbal Commits now lists Valpo as one of the schools offering a scholarship to 2015 point guard LuWane Pipkins from Chicago. He recently shot 9-10 from 3-point range at the Derrick Coleman Challenge:

Would be nice to have this player next year since we will be losing Bobby and Moussa.  Big men on the roster next year will be Vashil and Chadwick.
CRUSADERS!!!

Recruit Luwane Pipkins scored a school-record 40 points Saturday night after scoring 26 points on Thursday:

Bogan 76, T.F. South 48: The Rebels fell to 7-9 with the loss to the Bengals (15-2) in the Bob Hambric Shootout. Luwane Pipkins scored a school-record 40 points for Bogan.
