Yeah, that is no doubt an awful surgery with several months of physical therapy necessary.  He did it the right way though.  Gotta get 'em both done at the same time.  I know people who didn't want to have both done at the same time who suffered through severe pain in the other knee for many years because after the long recovery experience of the first surgery they didn't want to go through it again.
