12-4 on the year. Taking two matches this last weekend on a swing through Ohio with one being against Cleveland St. Great job!

Four girls have committed verbally for 2014.

I think you meant that they are 15-4, 4-1 in conference  :).  Keep it up ladies!

Late notice, but for Indy-area Valpo fans, the game @IUPUI tonight is being telecast locally on the HomeTownSports network, available on most local cable outlets.  I'd mention that it's also available (for a fee) online, but I don't want to feel the wrath of vu72 again, like I did for the soccer match!

You are correct, they don't have free video and many of their sports marketing people think that decision was insanely stupid.

I actually don't have HTS network on my U-verse. So I wasn't able to see the Valpo at IUPUI volleyball match.

It was good to hear that the Lady Crusaders pulled out the close win over the Lady Jags on the road.

Like the moniker "Cardiac Crusaders".

It seems like the volleyball team loses interest and then kinda wakes up just in time to win or, on occasion, loses matches they should have won.  IUPUI is a middle of the pack Summit League team and we barely won. Still, a win is a win!

I have a feeling that Coach Avery wouldn't totally agree with you.

The volleyball team played well against Oakland last night, winning 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13). I believe it was the first Oakland team to visit Valpo since entering the Horizon League. Sarah Dooms achieved a milestone by getting her 1,000th kill. She also has 1,000 digs, which makes her only the seventh Valpo player to reach both of those marks.

I have uploaded a set of 21 photos from the evening (including the two below), and I invite everyone to check all of them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/96208998@N05/sets/72157636720545834/

While yesterday's football was a bummer, the volleyball team won in 3 straight vs. WSU.  I understand they also won in 3 sets vs. YSU on Friday.  These ladies are VERY good.

Actually 3-1, but who's counting?

..and against Oakland rather than YSU, but the ladies are still "VERY good."  ;)

sorry...it must be an age thing    thanks for getting it straight

Hopefullly, the ladies are starting to put Coach Avery's thoughts on closing a match out early in 3 games, rather than lazily showing up for Game 1, then having to panic to win the match, whether in 4 or 5 games. A lesson that needs to pass to the football team. If I recall, the football team was leading after the 3rd, but then had to play the 4th...

After another slow start this evening, the team came back in an out of conference game on the road to beat a very good Illinois State (15-5 coming into tonight): 15-25, 25-22, 30-28, 25-22. Valpo's record moves to 19-4.

Always a solid team under Avery!

Great away win over Milwaukee, 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 20-25, 30-28): Valpo (22-4, 8-1) now tied in loss column atop the HL conference with the first-place Panthers (13-9, 9-1)!

That was a great win in a tight match with Milwaukee.

That final fourth set was incredibly close with neither side getting more than 3 points ahead. Valpo had 3 match points get turned away by the Panthers. Finally when it was 29-28 Valpo pulled it out. This was the team that had not lost a league match and had beaten Valpo 3 sets to nothing at the ARC.
