Interesting...the 10 extra practices, games and time together will benefit the team greatly. They were very young last year and see them being a top 4 team in the HL next year.

When was the last international trip valpo took? NCAA rules allow one every 4 years. Is valpo due for one. I would think this would help in recruiting as well.

Valpo played in Mexico before the 2010-11 season. So next year they should be able to travel abroad again.

Need to go to Eurpoe this next time -- competition should be a bit better and the challenges more formidable.

Good to get even more exposure for Valpo to a better pool of possible recruits in Europe as well.

They were all on the same side in WW-I, well, Greece was neutral. Greece had a treaty to help Serbia if Serbia was attacked by Bulgaria. Eventually Italy invaded Bulgaria for defensive purposes. Greece eventually entered the war on the Allied side in 1917 after the Tsar was overthrown and the Greek King no longer had protection from the republicans. Turkey (the Ottoman Empire) was totally in the Central Powers camp with Germany.

And so went the Great War.

If you want to get truly specific about Greece's history during the Great War, there was a "battle" going on between the Prime Minister Venizelos and King Constantine for which side to enter the war. This wasn't particularly unusual for a PM and King/Queen to have a dispute over which side to favor in a war. For political peace within Greece Venizelos decided on the neutral route. Remember that King Constantine was married to the sister of Kaiser Wilhelm II. But what also must be remembered is that Queen Victoria's grandchildren were the royal monarchs of the countries of Denmark, Greece, Norway, Germany (yes, even Kaiser Wilhelm II), Romania, Russia, Spain and, of course, the UK. The Great War was practically a war between cousins. King Constantine of Greece was being forced to choose between family with his brother-in-law/cousin in Germany and his cousin George V in England. Constantine figured it was better to keep the wife happy and side with Germany while PM Venizelos wanted on the side of the Allies the whole time. It was the Tsar's overthrow in Russia that got many monarchs on edge and realize that they must keep their people happy too. The republicans in Greece, who were called Venizelists, won the "battle" and King Constantine abdicated, leaving his son, Alexander, as King of Greece. Venizelos brought the power of 10 divisions of Greek troups and the Greek navy on the Allied side in 1917. This made France and the US very happy while George V in England was very suspicious of the Venizelists in Greece. Later his granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth II, married Prince Phillip, originally of the Greek royal family. Their marriage has lasted since 1948. They recently had a great grandson born on July 22, 2013, Prince George, son of Prince William and grandson of Prince Charles.
