Mike and Mike

While listening to Mike and Mike on the way to work, I had to laugh.  They are broadcasting from Northwestern a day before a big showdown with Ohio State.  I think Northwestern is a top 25 team and the Bucks are a top 5.  A big deal particularly for Mike Greenberg who is a Northwestern grad.

So Greenberg starts talking about how bad their team was when he was in school in the late 80's.  He says "really bad".  He goes on to say that during his four years they were 3-40 and 1, then with emphasis "3-40 and 1  They had an NCAA record for most loses in a row until Columbia beat the record.  So I checked on our last four years--for any folks on the board who might have graduated last year.  If they run into Greenberg they can "one up him" as Valpo was 3-41 and 0 over the last four!

Way to ruin my Friday! I remember those teams and they were awful.  To be able to trump those horrible Northwestern teams record is pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Valpo completes their season without a win, they will be 3-41 in 4 years

I remember those teams under John Pont and Rick Venturi, who had a career coachin grecord at Northwestern of 1-31-1 (Pont was the AD and one of the worst AD's of all time).  The win was over Wyoming on 1979, the tie was 0-0 at Illinois in 100 degree heat.  That was horrendous football at Dyche Stadium, where there was plenty of legroom inthe stands during those games. Greeny was not blowing this out of proportion, it was that bad. Greeny's stories on his college experiences with the Iowa fans are classic.
