Any word on how the existing players are transitioning to the new coach?  Did we lose anyone at semester?

Can't add anything.  But you might want to change the title of your new string from "recruiting" to "retention"  This might get confused with the Football Recruting tstring and we'll start mixing things. :)

This is about the current FB team so I thought I'd post this here.  Say what we have about the performance on the field, the academic progress of the players has improved the last couple of years and this year they set a program record (51) for players on the PFL Academic Honor Role.  That's about half the team.  Congratulations guys!

Smart football players can also  win --the PFL leader was Dayton with 72 and Drake had 66. Both these programs are competitive annually.  Butler went to the FCS playoff and had 61.

Heard that retention has been pretty good--6 guys not returning, which includes QB Hoffman and one of the redshirt freshman QBs, and a couple of injury-related nonreturns.

Thanks for the feedback Dad.  Any insight into the overall morale of the kids coming back?  Also,do you have any info on the current approach to the off-season program -- tougher, easier, different?

For most of January, the coaches were on recruiting trips, so limited interaction with the players--means there's no real morale read yet. As for the workouts, a strength/conditioning consultant was brought in that has worked with NFL players. They're ramping up on workouts now, so a little early on a read for that too. All that said, some signs of enthusiasm and commitment by players to working out, running pass routes, and doing all the "voluntary" stuff that helps a team succeed. Heard that spring workouts will start later than previous years. Still looking for the date of the spring scrimmage. Looking forward to seeing what the O looks like under Coach C -- and for which players to build our hopes on. Can't imagine all of us on this forum being okay with anything less than a solid number of wins next year! The players putting in the extra work now are the ones who will make that happen. But that's nothing new...

Based on the spring game roster it looks like we had pretty good retention.

Here is who is missing:
QB: Gorski and Hoeske
TE/RB: Bihary
WR: Emminger
OL: Sampson, DuKatz, Lineras, Jaeger
DL: Broshar and Scoville
DB: Mathis and Humes

Bihary played in a lot of games 2 years ago. Gorski appeared in the last series in the Butler debacle.  Sampson and Lineras were pretty good size redshirt freshmen.
