I've not figured out what the player, or image, has to do with the ranking or week.  But, I do like the photos and the baseball card feel!

The ranking's OK too ;)

Looks like not much changed this week.  We got a little closer to Murray State, and a little further away from to Green Bay.  But no rankings changed in the top 8.

Cleveland State still #32.  Greg Kampe still, to his credit I guess?, not voting for his own team.

Well, well, well! Make that _7_ points in the coaches' poll.  Good for 38th.  Ahead of Rhode Island.  No sign of Harvard... but still behind Murray State.

Those punk @$$ Rams and their ending a potential Elite 8 run

Wonder how many votes we'll get after we trounce GB and UWM!

A solid win over UWGB may well boost us up a bit, against Murray State, in the mid major coaches' poll.

Not sure how much the national voters (AP, national coaches) follow the mid-major results in detail.  I don't know if it's just our record continuing to tick along at 4 losses that wins us votes, or they actually see the results.

I know that Murray State has not lost since we gave them a wake up call, but the OVC is ranked below the Summit League.  We would probably run the table in the OVC.  Their best win is projected to be Illinois State. We should overtake them in RPI.

Your argument's probably sound, but somehow it wasn't clicking with my intuition.  But, indeed, rpiforecast.com supports you.  If we both win out the regular season, it has our expected RPI at 50.2 and theirs at 57.2.  But, rpiforecast sees that as a more probable outcome for Murray State, so it's overall average has them finishing the regular season a notch ahead of us, 67.5 to 69.1.

I'd have to check their conference tournament forecast to make a decent guess as to how it'll change after the regular season.  Probably the momentum continues in our direction, unless maybe they'd also only play two games, and on a neutral court vs. our home court games.

The RPI numbers may carry a little weight with the selection committee.  And _surely_ the head-to-head result will.  I don't know how much they'll affect voters for the writers' and coaches' polls, two losses in the Horizon vs. zero in the OVC?  Undefeated has a certain "anything's possible" feel, admittedly...  But, what do those polls matter, in the end?

Pardon the screen dump, but these maybe still aren't well archived anywhere.

Our high water mark was December 29.  #4, with UWGB #5.  Before Stephen F Austin edged us, and before Murray State climbed all the way from receiving votes (#27), bit by bit, to pass us up.

High water mark... until this week?

We jump over VCU, and Stephen F. Austin who plummets on their loss.

That's VCU who was _nationally_ ranked last week at 20/21.  They did pick up another loss, but hung in this week's AP at 25.

Harvard just makes it in to the MM power poll, as a new entrant.  Despite Lunardi's high opinion.

I find it interesting that Cleveland State isn't getting a vote from either of the HL coaches despite the fact their record in the conference rivals that of GB and just a step behind Valpo.

Maybe Waters has burned some bridges. "Four dead in Ohio" could mean tOSU, WSU, YSU and CSU.

Will the Harvard of the Midwest face Lithgow's Valpo of New England? Will Bostonians say Valpo who? Where do you put all that snow? How do you get melted snow out to sea? Will that snow cause floods in the Atlantic Ocean? Isn't "pawk yer caw" what Logan Airport valets say?

Funny.  I was thinking, as I read the updated poll, "Huh, is that a slap in the face to CSU?".  But, I'd forgotten Donlon was in on it too!  I remembered Kampe, and probably was thinking the poll was one per conference.  I assume that's mostly true?  And maybe was true, when Kample was in the Summit?  But, apparently, they let him stay on.

I imagine the double representation hasn't hurt the Horizon League teams any.

But, apparently, it's not been enough to help CSU or Oakland the last few weeks.

I personally wouldn't put CSU anywhere near my top 25 if I was a coach. They have 2 wins in the top 200 RPI schools and they are both at home vs. conference opponents. Their best win away from home is #213 Wright St. While I'm afraid we'll lose when we go there, I don't think they are a very good team. They've feasted on the HL bottom feeders and struggled away from the cozy confines of the Wolstein.

The top seven are rather little changed in this week's CollegeInsider Midmajor Top 25 coaches' poll.  Almost the same number of points, certainly the same order.  We're still #5.  Green Bay fell from #8 to #10.

Cleveland State picked up some votes.. #31 or so.

It seems like most everyone here missed an article posted on midmajormadness.com. On their website, Bryce is named as one of the ten sexiest midmajor coaches in the country. I am not surprised that the basketball program has not sent out a formal press release about this.

(Had to correct the very unfortunate typo)

Who would send out a press release for a sexist?

So let me get this straight.  We are ranked behind three teams in the top 11 nationally and a team we beat like a drum.  I like it!!

Apparently we got lucky.

I -think- that, at times , the selection committee has specifically been invited to look at head-to-head results.  With a dozen other factors.

Hopefully we'll find out!

I did think about posting the "Alec Peters top 15 power forwards in the country " list.  I didn't think about posting the Drew list.  It was around twitter, I think.  Maybe not @valpoathletics?
