Thanks for that. We forget so soon to keep tabs on our graduated players. That is so great forRowdy.

Dear Chicago Bulls,
Time to drop Tony Snell and go get you some Rowdy.

Australian-Dutch Ryan Broekhoff (200-F-90, agency: Priority Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for Lokomotiv and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 23 points and eleven rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Vita Tbilisi (#16, 0-22) with 50-point margin 121-71. Lokomotiv maintains the 4th position in VTB United League . They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Lokomotiv will need more victories to improve their 15-5 record. In the team's last game Broekhoff had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Ryan Broekhoff averages this season 10.4ppg and 5.4rpg.

Game analysis is on point here....maintains 4th position, would've been even better with a few more wins....need more victories to improve their record.

And when they score more points than their opponents, they have a 100% chance of winning.

On Twitter last night, someone posted that Andrew Bogut gave a shout out in a Bill Simmons interview to Rowdy when discussing the Boomer Olympic Team.

Reads like it was translated, or ESL, from... German? Something further East?

But big congrats to Rowdy! Looking forward to following him in Brazil this summer.

Rowdy returns to Istanbul today in Euroleague competition, against Andalou Efes. And on ESPN3 no less, 1:45 PM central.

This is game nine of 14 in the second of two round robins stages of the Euroleague, which still seems to be Europe's top level of club competition. Lokomotiv is sitting comfortably in second place, but it may be that seeding will be quite important in the knockout stages, so they'll want to keep on winning.

Lokomotiv is third place in the Russian League standings (three games back from second, 4.5 games from first).  Rowdy seems to have locked down the starting SF position, and in Russian league play is 2nd in minutes (25.8), 5th in PPG with 10.8, 2nd in RPG at 5.3.  He seems to be the leading sharpshooter (surprise!) with more than two 3PM a game, at a 43% clip, and a team-leading 2PFG percentage (eurboasket.com breaks them out by default) at 60.9%. In a context where the team scores 84 PPG.

(The "Russian" league actually includes a Finnish team, a Czech team, and teams from the Baltics and other former Soviet republics.)

Malcolm Delaney (Virginia Tech 2011) is actually hitting more threes in Euroleague play, in more minutes, but Rowdy's still knocking down two a game at a sick 48.7%. And, overall, his role seems similar in Russian and European competition.

The European competition format frankly makes soccer's Champions and Europa league look easy to understand, and it looks like it's changing for next year. FIBA seems to be starting up a European league of its own, perhaps intending to compete head-to-head with the Euroleague. It looks like the Euroleague will still _probably_ be the most prestigious next year, but will drop down to 16 teams. If Lokomotiv can't get the top spot, or maybe second, in the Russian league, it looks like they can still qualify (maybe everybody in the top 5? but with the weakest given a longer path to the championship) for the new "Basketball Champions League" .

And here's a nice couple of paragraphs about Ryan's role in their big victory on the road against league-leaders CKSA Moscow.

I love the translation software... and I'm glad Rowdy's Shot Shooting is continuing...
====================================================
Broekhoff continued his shot shooting in guiding Lokomotiv Kuban to a win over the league-leaders in the VTB United League, while Ben Madgen exploded in Belgium with a massive offensive display.

Ryan Broekhoff's 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists helped Lokomotiv Kuban secure their biggest win of the season with a 88-94 victory over VTB United League leaders CSKA Moscow. Lokomotiv delivered CSKA just their third loss this season on the back of a scintillating three-point shooting display. In a game with fine margins and played at a very high intensity, Lokomotiv connected on 15/32 three-pointers to gain the ascendancy in an entertaining battle.

Broekhoff was the catalyst for the visitors, converting on 5/7 three-point attempts to form a threatening outside combination with former NBA Lottery pick Anthony Randolph (28 points, 5/6 3PT). Lokomotiv thrived in a chaotic contest, with turnovers and assists the theme. CSKA committed 19 turnovers and delivered 19 assists, compared to 17 turnovers and 21 assists for the victors. Both teams played at a similar level throughout the game, although Lokomotiv raised their game to next level in the final quarter (24-32) and managed to hit the big shots when they counted. The result sets Lokomotiv up extremely well ahead of their next outing where they meet fourth-ranked BC Khimky at home.

And Ryan Broekhoff fouls Jon Diebler! Nice! Hadn't even noticed that name on the roster.

Ryan with a 2, a rebound, a foul, in the early going. Lokomotiv up 6-0.

Ryan started, and played the first couple of minutes, but then we haven't seen him back in the game. He looked OK in the huddle at the quarter break.

The game goes really quickly - seemingly no media timeouts. And no commercials, uninterrupted broadcast, except at the quarters. European style? Four ten minute quarters.

Delaney's looking good.

Ryan starts and plays the third quarter, but doesn't start the 4th. Couple of rebounds, some defense, good foul to break up a fledgling break. Lokomotiv up 53-44.

5 points for Rowdy, 1/2 from downtown - both good looks, coming in the last 90 seconds or so of the game (first basket came in the first 90 seconds or so).

Seems like he started the first and third quarters, and went back in (with the starters?) down the stretch. Not the star, but doing a job. (I guess in the first leg of the tie, Rowdy hit something like a game winner close to the end of the game.)

Broadcasters praising Lokomotiv for their defense, held Efes to their lowest total of the season apparently. 76-61 Lokomotiv. Talking about them as a final four candidate.

This was somehow the "Euroleague Game of the Week" - not sure if those are the only ones on ESPN3.

All of it finished in less than two hours.

Ok.  What if Alec doesn't make it to the NBA.  If Rowdy is any indication, Alec could be making tons of bucks in Europe.  He and his girl friend could be experiencing the world and he could be doing what he loves.  Great fallback position!

Jeez, I hope I'm not jinxing him  :o
