Don't know if you guys saw this on ESPN or not.  Pretty neat.  If you are feeling to good about yourself or the salary you make you should check it out.  I did the Cliff Lee version, "it will take you 800 years to make Cliff Lee's annual salary."

I recall feeling the same way when I first entered my salary.  But the more I thought about it, I came to the conclusion that it's probably generally accurate.  There are large nations of people such as China and India, representing billions of people, where practically no one would make as much as the average American makes.  Same thing for most of the continent of Africa, most of Central America, and to a somewhat lesser extent South America.  The truth is we are incredibly privileged in the United States.  Even our poor don't know what true poverty is when compared to the multitude of poverty-stricken nations across the globe.   I'm not trying to preach nor am I a bleeding heart liberal that feels we should feel guilty for what we have.  I do feel, however, that comparing ourselves to the rest of the world that toils every bit as hard as we do is better for our psyche than comparing ourselves unfavorably to ridiculously over paid athletes living in a fantasy world.

Considering all the starving people in the world, this is clearly not a surprise.  The site also claims I am the 107,565 richest person in the world.  There's still a LOT OF PEOPLE in between me and <fill in the blanks -- Gates? Trump? who?>

I'm less inclined to talk about American poor being relatively privileged compared to third world poor and more inclined to lambast fellow sports fans who think Alex Rodriquez makes them just a common joe.

Stl - Did you first convert your salary to UW $'s, using the drop down menu?  Pounds is the default.
