Congrats Alec.

With that 36, Alec finished with 82 pts for his rookie year.  Bryce had 118 his rookie year.  Bryce had 1081 for his NBA career.  Will Alec be the all-time leading scorer from Valpo before his NBA career finishes?  He's already moved into 5th place! 8-)

Bryce  1081
John Janish  734
Milt Schoon  616
Bob Dille    296
Alec Peters  82
Don Bielke   14

This has to be the record for most points in an NBA game by a former Valpo player.

It is.

I think Peters' ultimate destination is overseas but we'll see.

I see on the ESPN-Ticker... he was the NBA's leading scorer last night...  fun to see his name !!

Cool postgame interview with Jay Triano Suns interim Head Coach about AP's big night.

Paul Oren reported on twitter last night that previous record was held by Schoon/Bryce at 24.

Seems like we haven't heard anything about Alec getting signed to a regular NBA contract. Does this mean there's an "after the G league ends" exception like there's a "before the G league begins" exception to the number of days limit? I don't remember seeing that in the reporting on two-way contracts.

To early to tell. I could see him signing another 2-way deal with a NBA team next season. He may catch on with a team. A lot has to do with circumstance. Fingers crossed he remains in the NBA.

Don't forget he was dominating in the D-league. So that plus last nights performance should give the Sun's (and other teams) reason to give him a fair shot at an NBA career. Obviously he needs to deliver consistently, but he only got spot minutes before last night which is hard to get in a grove. We know what he can do and he has shown that he deserves more playing time, which hopefully he can capitalize on.

I'd love to see him carve out a role as a three point specialist off the bench for a contender. I think he could be lethal in that role.

I have to wonder if that performance may lead to a recruiting boost. It proves you CAN go to the NBA from Valpo and succeed. Potential recruits may take notice of that. Having NBA talent on other rosters in our conference like Milton Doyle (Loyola) Alize Johnson (Missouri State) and potentially others like  Milik Yarbrough (Illinois State) won't hurt either. We've got plenty of good basketball and hopefully some really good Valpo teams coming for the foreseeable future. Now if we could just get Broekhoff and maybe even Vashil to the NBA that'd be awesome.

Maybe, hard to ignore a Valpo alum dropping 30+ in an NBA game.  But it's all for not if he doesn't keep (at a minimum) a two-way contract.

The pitch to recruits has viability if he's still visible.  Becomes a little less effective as time moves by.

He did go 4+ months without getting to play before the NBA season started due to injury.   He did not get to participate in summer league and had a crazy schedule going back and forth from NBA to G-League.

I gotta think the suns or another NBA team are going to give him some more time to prove himself.   It is a huge step up in competition going to the NBA.   Based on his last 2 games he was getting better, even if it was against tanking teams.

I think he will get 3 years.  Last year and 2 more years.   If he can't carve out a role by then he will be off to Europe.

Just my  :twocents:

I have watched the NBA over time -- most of it is a non-motivated circus.  I am convinced that Alec has a significant role ahead of him IF the powers that be sort out what they really need and how he can meet that need.  Alec, IMO, would flourish with a team that reveres the unselfish TEAM approach (San Antonio and the Celtics come to mind) and dedication to continuous improvement (SF comes to mind).  The guy can shoot.  He is unafraid to rebound. He can post up in the right NBA situations.  He will go to the floor for a ball. He will sacrifice himself for the greater good.  It will take the right organization to recognize and optimize this young man's great potential.

Rowdy is cut from the same cloth.  Both these professionals deserve a bigger stage.

Quality guy, and I do believe he earned more than a 2-way contract going into this next season.  I would take him on my Mavs, especially since he torched us, and we need scoring :)

Always said Alec Peters would look great in CELTIC Green

Me too, but they have Gordon coming back next season  ( :( for Alec).

After the way the Pacers were shooting against the Cavs and Lebron last night I am inclined to take anyone that can score 36 points in a game. Obviously this is when I truly start watching the NBA.

swiftmutiny

The Suns have hired a new head coach, former Utah Jazz assistant Igor Kokoskov. He's apparently quite good at developing young talent. We'll have to wait and see what this means, if anything, for Alec.

Donte Ingram who just signed a Summer League deal with the Bulls didn't make sure poll huh? Oh well the answer's Peters anyway.

Ingram is a good player but I don't think he's in the same class as the others. Ingram is glue guy. I also think there is some goodwill "PR" in this Ingram signing specifically to the Bulls. I think he certainly could be a D-League caliber player and could play at a high level in Europe somewhere.

VUGrad1314

The Suns traded up to get Bridges and will be renouncing Elfrid Payton Alex Len. How do you think this impacts Alec's future with the team?
