It is time to shift to rumors, guessing, conjecture and discussion of the preseason football camp goings on.

My first observation is that there was no discussion about positional depth - just experience. No mention about the QB position especially. I hope there will be lots of VUFB tweets and stuff that help us see what is happening on a daily/weekly basis.

GO VALPO.

VUOR63

What do the upperclassmen make the freshmen do nowadays?  The freshmen used to have to arrange a skit for the end of camp as well as learn and then sing the fight song on demand (usually at lunch to serenade the hardworking cafeteria ladies).

Alright just a few quick questions

1, I can do a preseason depth chart by games played last year and add in freshman and redshirts and update it weekly if anyone be interested?

2, I can also do player breakdowns again if members would like

A few quick hits

1. Tough loss on Hughes but nunes will help also expecting a big breakout year from Leandre a former 247sports 3 star

2. D line lost Michael Penn and Brent dicksom. Penn was quality depth. Dickson had a load of potential

3. Expecting 6 wins this year team much better however schedule is brutal for valpo

I wonder if there will be any no shows. That might be a good idea for a future pool.

If a player or players don't show up, and I think typically there are a couple at least who don't, I wonder if they replace with one of the uninvited....who may even be there if they've decided to continue.

Kellen Hughes is a big loss and you have him listed as injury-related.  Any detail?

A couple of questions:  First, is Seewald healthy?  Next, am I reading this correctly that Mullen is a transfer?  If so, from where? Finally, for now, why would Clarke switch from QB to be third string TE??

-No update on Seewald. Edit: I am about 50/50 Chris Duncan will take the first snap at Montana

-Mullen transferred from Tiffin where he did not play football

-As of Clarke, expect him to be starting long snapper, Petruf and Sutter are both quality tight ends and both played and started the double tight end set last year. Petruf also had a great spring and Sutter is a two year returning starter. I expect Clarke to play in every game and be featured in some double tight end sets. However it was either be a special teams, offense utility player, the teams long snapper, and travel every game, or be the team's third string quarterback. He went with the option to see the field.

Couple of QB points/questions:

Mullen transferred in last year. I think he was injured during the spring.

What happened to Papenfuss? He was stated to be neck and neck with Duncan in the spring and I can't say either guy was all that overwhelming. Did he transfer? It wouldn't make a ton of sense to not invite him especially if Seewald does have a physical issue which will limit or eliminate him early.

I hope they don't pay down the road for the loss of that number of underclassmen.

Thanks for the great job on the roster. Outstanding.

One more question: Anyone know what happened to the kicker from Florida who won whatever state award as the best kicker they give out? He committed but haven't seen anything on him since.

valpofb16

Papenfuss was really third option in his class at quarterback and was from Florida. Combine that with the team bringing in two more quarterbacks and Valpo being none scholarship that is tough. If he lost his spot to one of the freshman he'd be fourth string looking at a Sophomore-Redshirt Freshman-Freshman/Mullen in front of him. That is a tough sell to stay

Kicker Logan Robinson is not reporting to camp however his name may surface as a walk on at a different school after camp ends.

Loss of Underclassmen

Receivers-This year's class is better. A lot better.
Linebackers-Same thing plus keeping the ones who contributed last year

Thanks.

Thanks. Comes across as you're saying this was his decision.

valpofb16

Don't personally know to be honest. Just adding up factors.

VU2624

Looking at the depth chart, CB looks a bit inexperienced with only 3 returners. Fate has a way of picking on those situations as well.

Fb16 - this is outstanding reporting and many thanks for your insight.

Valpo football video had Tristan DE LARosa and Jimmy See Wald both practicing. Great signs
