I think there is no doubt Ryan is NBA caliber but it will come down to finding the right situation and fit. Fingers crossed it all works out for Ryan.

Best part about that list of teams is that it's either a team where he can play a lot and help establish a winning culture (Brooklyn) or hungry young playoff teams where his intangibles and skillset will be great fits. I'm sure we're all rooting for Milwaukee to sign him if any preference exists but just seeing him in the NBA would be really cool and well-deserved.

Nice kid, and a solid player on a top tier Euroleague team. I don't think he has a great chance of getting on an NBA team. He'll be 28 in August and although you can never say never, that's not usually the age in which guys make the move.

He'll really have to show out in the Summer League (which is usually a really hard place to showcase yourself if you aren't a guard that creates his own looks since 95% of the guys out there aren't looking to pass the ball) in order to make the jump in my opinion. This doesn't mean I don't think he could play in the NBA, I just don't know how legitimate of a chance he'll get.

Worst-case scenario though, he doesn't make it and continues to be paid well on his Euroleague team and gets more run with the Aussie National team, which is still better than most college basketball players wind up.

While I understand your points, I think that the thing that seems to be different now is Ryan's three point shooting. He was over 50% for the Eurocup season. If he comes in and shows that level of shooting in workouts and summer league games, he certainly has a chance. I don't think anyone would question his effort or character and his other skills are solid for a two or a three on an NBA roster.

I'm not sure people are disqualified based on age. I think if they want a shooter he'll make a squad. Look, Kyle Korver isn't 27, he is 37 and making $5.239 million. He is the same height and shot 43% from the 3. Ryan has shot 44.3% on averaged over his Euro career. I think the Cavs were wishing Ryan was on their team instead of Kyle!

People aren't disqualified on age, which is why I said "you can never say never". Normally, guys don't make the jump after 6 years of pro basketball after college outside the US, but it does happen on occasion. Andre Ingram was a 32 year old that got called up from the G League this past year by the Lakers, which was the first time he'd ever been in the NBA. Mike James was a 27 year old rookie point guard for the Suns last year.

Broekhoff shot from a 3 point line that's over a foot and a half (20 inches officially) shorter than the NBA's. It's not a lot, but it does make a difference. I'm not saying he couldn't prove to be a good 3 point shooter in the NBA, but to say that Cleveland would rather have Broekhoff than Korver, who is regarded as one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA history https://www.nba.com/magic/ranking-3-point-shooters-history-1-20180219 seems like a reach to me.

I'm not trying to disparage his skills, though it may seem like it. I do think he could make it if he shoots it well and shows he can defend his position in workouts and summer league. I'm just saying that lots of guys (both college and pros), who have enough skill to make it in some capacity at the NBA level get workouts and interviews with NBA squads, and aren't necessarily given a legitimate chance to prove themselves. Hopefully he is.

First off as a Pacer fan, I hate Kyle Korver.

Ryan's key is picking (if possible) the right camp to go to, much easier said than done. Then shoot so well they can't get rid of him. One of many problems is that NBA teams many times go to camp with 14-15 guys on guaranteed contracts making openings tight.

Plenty of people debut in the NBA past 27. There are a lot of folks that earn their way by playing overseas, as Rowdy has done. The Mavs big Center from Tunisia debuted at 29 or 30, and Joe Ingles, another Australian, debuted at 27. Don't count him out.

Said Wizards workout went quite well and has two more lined up. Believe he said one was the Nets, was in a rush to catch a flight so don't quote me.

I'm 6' and I felt tiny...
