I would have thought that after dropping 36 on them that they would have signed Alec!

So what strings did you have to pull to get your wish?   :)

The last time I saw Rowdy play in-person (non-video), he lit up Butler for 19 pts and 16 rbs in the HL tourney @$$ whipping we gave them.  If he gets even 1/3 of the points and 1/5 of rebounds in this upcoming season, I will chalk that up to a good first year in the NBA :)

That Todd Ickow call of the Broekhoff buzzer-beater brings back so many great memories. Probably the best live sporting event I've ever attended. Such a special moment! Proud of Rowdy getting to realize his dreams!

What an amazing success story!  So happy for Ryan and his entire family!

Beyond thrilled for him! Couldn't have happened to a better guy! May he parlay this into a nice  long career as Ingles and Dellavedova  before him have done! Now if Ryan could just put a good word in for Alec, perhaps we'd finally get to see how fantastic these two would have been had they played together. Regardless, this alum is proud and pleased with this news tonight! Go Valpo!

There was nobody friendlier or more positive than Rowdy whenever I interacted with him. What great representatives of Valpo he and Alec would be together in the NBA. Add Bryce, and we can be proud Valparaiso has produced such individuals of high quality character to showcase in the brightest of basketball spotlights. My only hope is that we can watch Rowdy with #45 seen on his Valpo jersey in my photo, especially since I notice that number is not taken by anyone currently on the Mavericks roster. I always wished to witness him wearing that number in the NBA!

Spectacular news for Rowdy! I can remember watching the first video of Ryan as a recruit and some people complaining about his release point... well I guess he proved them all wrong!

That video of Ryan's buzzer beater is the best.  Better than ESPN's.  I spoke to the guy who took this video. He was leaving early to get out ahead of the crowd and stopped and took the video just in case this happened.  Thats why he said "he did it!" in the video  He wanted to get the fans reaction which is cool to see.

From Mavs web site:
Owner Mark Cuban and coach Rick Carlisle said the Mavs have agreed on a contract with Australian guard/forward Ryan Broekhoff. The 6-7 player was an honorable mention All-American and the Horizon League Player of the year while playing for Valparaiso in 2012. Broekhoff, now 27 years old, played for Valparaiso from 2009-'13, but went drafted. He also made the All-EuroCup First Team in 2015 while playing for Lokomotiv Kuban. "He's the best shooter in Europe," Cuban said. "He played at Valparaiso, the alma mater of Shawn Marion, and was a knock down shooter there. His game has improved, he's a good rebounder for his position, he's 6-7 with a 6-10 wingspan, so he knows now to play." Carlisle said of Broekhoff: "He's a shooter and a tough kid who had a great year this year in Europe. We like him as a shooter and a guy that can space the floor.".

...or that Valpo isn't a JC.

That's embarrassing for Cuban and a huge slight to Valpo to think it's the same place as non-D1 Vincennes. That should be bulletin board material for our players going forward.

It's a simple mistake.  There doesn't appear to be any malice.
