Let's start in our own back yard.  Joshua 'Bubba' Johnson of Gary, Indiana, Valpo needs you. Here is the Bleacher Report story.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2806782-a-350-pound-quarterback-joshua-bubba-johnson-is-that-and-much-more?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial

Here is the YouTube link.  He is 350# and runs a 5.2 40.  He also plays TB and QB, runs out of the shotgun, and has thrown for some TDs.  He crushes people as a DL.  Has a 3.5 GPA. And also plays BB.  He'd make a tremendous addition to the DL at Valpo. Youngest of 11 kids.  Would bring in Gary family and  friends that would fill half of the stands at Brown Field.

Can anyone with knowledge of VU volleyball comment to the "real" quality of this recruiting class?

http://valpoathletics.com/volleyball/news/2018-19/18653/volleyball-to-welcome-eight-newcomers-in-2019/

Words like "loaded recruiting class" are being bandied about and that makes an outsider like me think "heck yeah"....is it legit?

I see a bunch of "all district and 3rd team state" but is that historically unseen with VU volleyball?

For example, 5th in Illinois Mr Basketball (Javon Freeman) was a huge indicator of quality.....does the volleyball recruiting class have solid depth or any Javon level recruits?

Also, can someone comment on why there are only 3 or 4 graduating seniors and 8 newcomers?  Were we that short on players this year?

Did you guys notice that this was a FOOTBALL recruiting thread???

VULB#62

Am told that Joshua Johnson is on the Valpo recruiting radar.  At 6-3, 350 with a 5.2 40  he had better be  ;D

I was wondering what "FB" stood for!  ;)
I've seen some tweets regarding offers from Valpo the last few days.

If I counted correctly, there are 9 RSSr. listed.  That seems like a lot for Valpo and if they all show we should again have a very experienced team.  Hopefully they will all stay healthy!

Goodwin's tape shows him at DB and QB as well as receiver.  I like his size an athleticism.

Next year's Valpo team will need a freshman WR or two to step up in a big way. Maybe Goodwin is that guy or at least one of them.

He was also the 2nd kicker which never seems like an issue until you realize you can't kick a FG or XP and you're kicking off with an Offensive Lineman because your kicker is hurt.

So a couple of K's/P's may be needed.

Appears that he had Columbia and San Diego looking at him as well. Coach says he's at least an FCS player.

Valpo, Columbia, San Diego and Alabama. Four peas in a pod.

Makes you wonder if he read the letter correctly from Alabama.  ;D ;D

wh

I don't see a 2020 recruiting thread, so I'll put this here. The coaching staff might want to give this guy a look:

Indiana high school fullback dominating opponents, but doesn't have a scholarship offer

Interesting.  Noted that both Army and Navy have shown interest -- he looks ideally suited for their Flexbone O.

Coach John Snyder is no longer listed amongst the current coaches on the website. I assume he's move on. His twitter account does not reflect him being on the Valpo staff either.

He still appears on the 2018 team roster page with the other coaches, but that is a record of the past season, so it makes sense to retain that record in tact. To do otherwise is revisionist history.  I wish John all the best.  He was the lone holdover from the previous regime and had a good run in a number of different staff assignments. So this leaves the ST and TEs slot open for 2019.

Seems odd our kicking and punting has been pretty solid the last few years. Add in our kickoff returns makes you wonder why he is gone.
