Commit ILB Jacob Floresca 6'2 190 Plainfield East I'll.

IndyValpo

We have a punter; Patrick Oliva from South Bend St Joe. I think he was a Kicker as well.

Needs to charge his phone. Highlights show at least as muck placekicking as punting. He'll be pretty busy.

Is it an iPhone? I got one of those in my car.

#98 Brian Bartholomew has been added to roster as a R-FR. Kicker, Oliva committed, Latsonis will be available for 4 games next season as his intention is to grad transfer following season.

Cupboard looking less empty at this position now

Is Bartholomew also a kicker?\

edit: didn't realize he was on the web page as on the roster so I answered my own question. He is a kicker.

If that is Latsonis' intention and he's made the coaches aware of it, if I'm the coach I'm saying thanks but no thanks. How can you possibly preach that it's one for all and all for one, etc. while playing a guy you know is leaving your program with eligibility?

#28 Franck Tsoungui 5-11 162 FR. WR and #19 Beau Sanoris 6-0 180 FR. RB have been added to the roster.

Also O'Doherty did not quit leaving 11 linemen for spring with 4 incoming.

P Ulbrich has landed at Middle Tennessee St. (FBS)

valpofb you're so good you forgot you were on the pulse back in January. I'd never forget a name like Tsoungui and you brought him up as joining in January.

Commit: Malek Williams 6'0 175 DB Muncie Central, IN

Looks like we're getting new brown jerseys as well this season

VULB#62

I played in the era when our helmets were old metalic gold.  Love to see that return as well. But with today's technology it would be great if it was bright gold like ND.

WR signing....Oscar Lopez 6-1 200 from Vermillion JC in Minnesota

JD24

Lopez's stats were pretty good last year...his freshman year.

36 receptions 602 yards and 3 TDs

28 receptions in conference which was 2nd in conference play.

valpofb16

Big body receiver, has a chance to play right away. Believe he is a 3for2 JUCO prospect so he will come in as a Junior, after thinking it makes sense for JUCO's need to balance out attrition from 2016 class

Based on his highlights, it appears he played mostly in the slot but also lined up outside and even at TE on a couple of plays within his highlights. Showed the ability to catch the ball when challenged. I don't see how he doesn't play right away unless Valpo's been stashing WRs on the scout team for some odd reason.

There is little doubt in my mind that the only reason Lopez is coming to Valpo is because of the balmy weather and the chance to go to the beach. (Vermillion is located in Ely, MN, seventeen miles from the Canadian border. Record low for November? -24. Record low for December? -44. Record low for January? -47. Record low for February? -51.  Record low for March? -42.  You get the picture.   ;))
Season Results: CBI/CIT: 2008, 2011, 2014  NIT: 2003,2012, 2016(Championship Game) 2017   NCAA: 1962,1966,1967,1969,1973,1996,1997,1998 (Sweet Sixteen),1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2013 and 2015

Little more on Mr. Lopez.

He attended Mount Ida College in Newton MA (he's from Revere, MA) in 2017. MIC closed that spring (2018) rather abruptly. So he headed for the upper reaches of Minnesota. His JC eligibilility should be up if I'm understanding the JC rules (can only compete 2 years). This is why he's coming in as a junior. He had 28 catches for Mount Ida in 2017.

Pretty good going to his left and throwing across his body too. 6' and 163 best ht/wt I could quickly find.  And, 72, why wouldn't he have good wheels?  He's from Wheelersburg.

Nice Highlights are from his junior year so I assume he grew and got better. The program he's from has been very successful. A long run of success statewide with a short period of exception in the early 2000's. Why do I mention this? See below:

Just odd to me that he says on his twitter feed that Valpo was his first offer. I know there are under the radar guys but he's a QB who put up some big numbers and he doesn't get a look? It's just strange I guess. Hopefully he works out. Listed as a Pro-style QB which may be a necessity with his frame at this point.

Getting back to the school program...after all this success they have had 3 players play FBS football (2 for Marshall and one for Ohio some years back) over about 45 years. Another couple have played Dayton, Morehead St and Robert Morris respectively. The others played Div II, III and NAIA programs. That's just not a lot of players playing college ball from a successful program. It could be that the coaches don't really do "recruiting" well in directing their athletes to schools as I feel they should. It could also mean the coach(s) are better at putting together teams who's sum is much better than their individual parts. However it could also mean that the level of player in the league the school plays in is overall not very talented. This is why HUDL highlights don't always tell the entire story no matter how good they look for any particular player and that can go in different directions.
