Valpo takes on Hillsdale, MI in less than 3 weeks. Are you ready for the basketball season?

October 29th is not far away at all.

valpopal

I'm certainly ready. Even sooner, the open practice event for season ticket holders is this Saturday, only 6 days away, and I'm looking forward to it.

Also, there is a student event on Oct. 22 for introduction of the basketball players:

"There will be FREE pizza from Hungry Howie's, a chance to take pictures with and meet all the players, coaches, along with the Crusader.  There will also be video board introductions, with this being the first and only chance for students to see the team's intro video on the video boards before the first preseason game on October 29."

I think it might be time to try something other than free pizza to bring the students in...regardless, lets get this season started!

The pizza is a very minor part of this event.  Regardless, it works about as well as anything when trying to attract students.

It's all about dodgeball and getting to play with the players and coaches.  Here's one student that's excited!

I think it is a great idea.  Creative to say the least.  The new marketing guy(s) are really doing a terrific job!

Pretty cool to incorporate the Dodge-ball tournament.  Somebody needs to take video of the final game against the coaching staff and then put it on the facebook and youtube sites.

always worked to get me to check stuff out :)

Throw a little beer in with the pizza - that'll do it! (JK) Seriously, i think it'll be key for the guys to know they have everyones support from day one. New Coach, and a new day.
Let's not forget to show the lady crusaders some support this season too. I think they've made some nice additions to their squad, and had a good run in China. The players they picked up should be able to come in and help out immediatley.

This dodgeball event includes the Women's team and will allow both teams to really interact and engage with the student body.

Dodgeball!  Fantastic!

Sometime I'll try to come back and post a bit about the various bits I see around campus from IMC and the Valparaizone.  They do seem to be working to build enthusiasm, in a positive way.  Hopefully the students are receptive.

So, dodgeball for the students.  A pre-season event for the season ticket holders.  The faculty constituency might feel a bit neglected!  Is this a subtle hint that we're not supposed to rely on the free tickets? ;)

sectionee

The dodgeball thing sounds pretty cool.

Keep those complimentary tickets coming to the faculty and staff (and their families)!

Absolutely!  I didn't mean to sound ungrateful - the free tix are certainly a quality benefit.  I've been enjoying free recitals, plays, softball, volleyball, and soccer games, etc, etc.

Warning, warning! Next Saturday is our first exhibition game against Hillsdale,MI. Only 1 week to go. A lot will be garnered from this game but not as much as most of us would like.

A photo I took last week with my iPhone. Let's hope we can add to those banners in the background sometime soon.

"Indy Star" has announced that WNDY-23,will televise 14 Butler games this year. Not bad. No wonder Butler's enrollment is up over last year. Publicity!
