#72 Kamara and #95 Osmond have left team

Jimmy is participating in his first spring football on campus.

JD24

Great news on Jimmy.

Down another OL.

dcannon12

Have any of you wondered why Jimmy has had to have two surgeries?
It's his mechanics yes he can throw a mile but he will throw that shoulder out again if his mechanics are not changed.
And if you have gone to a practice ( I have)  you will see the receivers need help this year Jimmy's first year they were skilled
receivers that's not the case now.   Duncan has good mechanics and is the most mobile.   OL needs help as well.

VULB#62

Welcome to the board  dcannon. Nice to have your contributions.  Your observation sounds credible and the logic accounting for his repeated injuries sounds reasonable.  A solution, however, might be virtually impossible to implement in one spring and one off-season. Mechanical changes are learned, practiced and programmed into muscle memory over time. And time we don't have.  Hopefully, Jimmy can adjust a bit without screwing up his accuracy and velocity.

JD24

There was clearly something up with Seewald's mechanics last year which I took to be related to his first surgery. I didn't think he should have been playing based on how he looked during the games (not referring to results) but even that may not have contributed to his further medical issues. Obviously others closer to the situation have much more information than I would.

NWIGuy

Any other practice observations dcannon?

Defense adjusting to the new scheme?

Seems crowded at RB?

Do we have a punter?

football1960

QB mechanics is very important I agree with dcannon12 , qb# 5 Nimz ,did he have surgery also? When watching both Seewald and Nimz they both throw with there shoulder and off of one foot.

dcannon12

Nimz did have shoulder surgery foogball1960 you are correct about throwing off shoulder and 1 foot.  My assessment is Duncan has the best shot this year good mechanics and mobility.

Brandon

By popular demand, I have updated the roster as it currently stands on our website.

dcannon12

The punters/kickers look ok
Defense seems a little confused they need a strong safety
OL needs to help out the OB's I can tell that will be a problem in games
Fox is more aggressive then Dave was I think that is a good thing

Lburtonsr

How are the receivers looking ?

dcannon12

Receivers having trouble with routes but two of them have good hands so hopefully that will work itself out with practice.

valpofb16

Brandon!! You are the Man!

Jarnigan year 4 starter, Russell naturally a guard could move back if Monahan is ready. Biggs starting with Kamara departure, London has been a surprise. valpofb16

QB
#9 Seewald R-JR.
#14 Duncan R-JR.
#4 Mullen R-SR.
#5 Nimz R-FR.
Ruszkowski FR.

Seewald is the guy barring health/ will miss spring game. Duncan taking reps with the ones. Nimz and Mullen battle it out for QB3. Nimz will very much be the guy after current QBs graduate. Could use a JUCO here to even out roster. Ruszkowski solid prospect.

valpofb16

TE
#31 Kluck R-SO.
#40 Martin R-JR.
#80 Bittner R-SO.

Starter could be any one of the three. All Tight Ends played 7+ games last season. Still looking to recruit a few. Two freshman or younger JUCO's are a must for next seasons final roster

Koehler and Larose will battle it out. Reese solidified as a starter. Gessinger starting, Brewer is an excellent prospect. Bingham and Lopez both appear ready to play in fall. McNerny excellent size but missed spring.

dcannon12

Spring game will be interesting. I think Duncan is the best bet Seewald is not as mobile and really has not played for 2 years you will see when he
does not have great receivers.

Help me out here on two fronts. One is the responsibility of the position which my thought is that it is a cross between the 2nd and 3rd level LB/SS. Typically the skillset leans towards the DB rather than the LBer because of the coverage responsibilities. J.J. Nunes would have been a natural for the position. With Petrie being more of the LBer type, does he have the coverage skills to play the position and run with a guy 40 yards downfield?

Couple of things here.

First is that based on what I was able to find regarding Limbach's offenses in the past that he used a lot of 10 personnel rather than 11. This would make the need for TEs lesser and WRs greater. He could adjust based on the current personnel and is lacking in both areas. So there may be two slots on the field more than we see TEs.

Gessinger I don't think can be an every down receiver. He's going to get beat up running the inside routes required out of the slot and I'm not sure what kind of blocker he is which could affect the running game if he can't hold his own in that regard. He's probably best used as he has been which is returning kicks and being spotted from scrimmage.
