Hey,     do any of you guys regularly (even sporadically) check the  MVCFANS  forum???  Yeah, we, as a program,  take a lot of hits there (deservedly so) — but not as much as Evansville 

Hang in there.  There is a point I'm getting to.

I don't post cuz I'm not really good at analyzing basketball, but I lurk daily and recognize maybe 2 or 3 who do post occasionally.  Why aren't there more knowledgeable than me  Valpo contributors? This is OUR conference and there is virtually no participation by Valpo. I'm gonna get clobbered for this (and I apologize to fellow lurkers): but talk about VU commitment to top level Mid-major basketball??

Anyway, back on topic....

The March to the Arch podcast is promoted on FANS just like it is promoted on our board. As a matter of fact, they place an individual post, as well, on MVC members' forums. If you check other forums I'm sure you'll see the same post we see. I checked just two, UNI and Bradley, and found it.  We are not being singled out.

Oh, and yes, wherever we go for conference information there will be snickers about us  until we become a real, consistent competitor.

Let me repeat my issue with these MVC board people. Only Bradley (once) and Drake (twice) have represented the MVC in the NCAA tournament in the 6 years we've been in the league. The rest haven't been there in literally decades, yet they have the gall to ridicule our program. They're like spoiled kids who act stuck up because daddy has money and they live in a gated community. There's not a doubt in my mind that Valpo will rise to the top of the league long before they will. In the meantime, I have no interest in anything they have to say.

You make good points, WH, about their collective appearances at the NCAA level — not much to brag about.  Yet, as both you, I, and others have lamented, we have, with one exceptional run, been conference basement dwellers pretty much all of our  tenure. So the teams that rotate at the top of the conference have a basis to be critical (hell, our board has sometimes been more negative than them).  That doesn't mean that what they say is wrong or inaccurate.

And from my angle, I'd rather adhere to the axiom "keep your friends close; keep your enemies closer." 

There's no harm in knowing what they are thinking, but there also may be times when a Valpo perspective/explanation/clarification can alter misinformed opinions. But this is all subtlety.  Winning on the court sends unmistakeable messages which we all agree on.
