Another one bites the dust.  Very sad.  Their President was John Nunes, former Valpo professor.  His son was a very good Defensive back on our football team.

OP Kretzmann was a Concordia grad.

Iona College will acquire Concordia's Bronxville campus and allow its students to finish their degrees with Iona. Concordia, a liberal arts college that has been operating in New York since 1881, has about 1,500 students.

Iona College plans on working with each Concordia student individually to help them with the transition, if they choose to do so.

Each Concordia student's future with Iona will be handled on a case-by-case basis, with the hopes that all students will have a smooth transition to Iona, Carey said.

"We want to help all of them," he said. "We hope they can find the programs they need here. There's a lot of alignment, we have a very common mission, and we both serve first-generation students well."

Concordia has faced some challenges in recent years, including a whistleblower lawsuit filed by a former employee, as well as its accreditation status being placed on probation. In 2019 Concordia offered to help College of New Rochelle students who were seeking a new school when CNR closed that year amid a financial crisis.

In a Facebook post, Concordia College New York Alumni said the decision by the Board of Regents was made in a "deliberative, thoughtful and strategic process, informed by immutable business realities."

Concordia's financial problems was accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the post said, noting the challenges of higher education today.

Concordia College President John A. Nunes said in a statement that the students continue to be the priority as the decision was made and the process continues.

"By acting now, Concordia's Regents have provided our students with an excellent option for continuing the quality, faith-informed education they began here," Nunes said. "This outcome brings deep pain to all of us who care for Concordia, and in whose hearts Concordia will always live. I find inspiration in Concordia's legacy: the generations of alumni who have and are today impacting the world with the foundation Concordia gave them."

The Bronxville campus is one of seven Concordia colleges and universities in the U.S. that are operated by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a national Protestant denomination.

According to the website of the Concordia University System, "The colleges and universities of the Concordia University System prepare individuals to serve as Christian leaders for the Church, community and world through a Lutheran lens."

If you're Valpo do you send President Padilla and Pastor Wetzstein on a trip to NYC to recruit as many Broxnville kids to Valpo as you can?
I believe that we will win.

Maybe a couple like the Krefts who are longtime supporters of Valpo and close to the LCMS along with Pastor Wetzstein.
