I thought some on this board would want to know the sad news that our friend Walt Wangerin has passed away at the age of 77. Beginning in 1991, Walt was a professor in theology and English, well-known as a writer of novels, children's books, poetry, and religious texts. Also an ELCA pastor, the chapel has hosted an annual preaching series in his name since 2012. Additionally, Walt held the Jochum University Chair from 1991-2009.

Sad news indeed.  He was a legendary orator who also had a national radio broadcast.

It didn't seem to be appropriate to "like" this post. I just wanted to extend my condolences to the Wangerin family and all of Walt's friends. He was certainly a great man and educator. I spoke to his wife in 2018 and Walt seemed to be doing well at that time.
