Lottich needs to be left at Stanford after this game. This is his FIFTH season and he still does not know how to come up with a gameplan and does not know how to adjust to in game situations. Ben and Kobe coming back are not going to save this team.

I'm glad I didn't pay to see this mess (and now watch for a major comeback!) but if not, we are in BIG trouble.  We have been lied to about Ben. This isn't a sprain or he would be back by now.

If I were Matt I would start getting my resume in order. President and Mrs. Padilla are at the game and hosted a pre-game party.  He won't be happy.

My daughter called me and asked what I was doing.  Told her listening to Valpo game.  She hasn't seen them play In 2 years and goes do they still look lost on offense.

Agree. I get these sense that 1) President Padilla understands the importance of basketball and 2) does not tolerate poor performance.
I believe that we will win.

Lottich doesn't stand up for his players at all , horrible , come on Matt get a T. We're playing badly , fire them up , great pass from Kevion for the wide open 3. That's great basketball but 90% of that first half was shat !

Abysmal! Effort without purpose. No cohesiveness - especially on the offensive end.

So I presume Emil is hurt or some such thing as he isn't playing. Shocking, just shocking.  :(

Isn't it weird how every team shoots lights out against us? Matt Lottich sure is unlucky!

And it's not just the other team's best shooters, its including guys who never make 3s against any other team, just embarrassing

In the UIC post game press conference Lottich mentioned that EF-V had an respiratory infection of some kind.

Edwards and Young go 3-15 from 3. Rest of team goes 5-12...

That fact that we "only" lost by 14 doesn't really tell the story of the game. We lost this game before the first media timeout. One of the worst performances by a Valpo team in recent memory.
I believe that we will win.

What happened to Connor?

Good question.  How does anybody get into a comfort zone when they are jerked ALL the time?

I am smelling a "bad beat" here.

Would have been a bad beat without a bad turnover and then a bad shot at the end.

Here are two stats that say a lot:

Valpo's assist to FG ratio: 6 to 21.
Stanford's assist to FG ratio: 18 to 25.

Teams shoot well from three on Valpo because the defense falls apart when the opponent reasonably moves the ball and/or when they set a screen. The rotation on defense just is not there and guys get lost on screens.

I'm not sure what experience this team is getting from the out of conference schedule except how to lose to different level teams in different ways. A solid loss to a good but still division ll team. How to lose close to an even better but still division ll team. How to lose even closer to a mid major & now how to lose worse than the score reflects to a P5 team. Would it have killed Matt to schedule one bunny so the team could actually experience what it's like to win a game?  I don't know, maybe there's a winnable game in the upcoming tournament. Of course if Kithier's hurt we could go 0 for out of conference.

My vote for a 1-6 November is shaping up pretty good.

After the Toledo game I said that I was writing off the non-conference portion of the season, and I have as I await the conference portion with a full complement of players supposedly to appear on the court. Yet, following tonight's game coupled with the news about Loyola moving up to the A-10, I am painfully reminded of this program's seeming descent in quality in recent years. At one time in the Horizon League, Valparaiso's rival was Butler. Some of the best games ever were matches with the Bulldogs. However, Butler went to the Final Four in 2010 and 2011 (both years making it to the championship game), then advanced to the Big East. When Valpo entered the MVC, the logical rival was Loyola, who had come from the Horizon League and made the Final Four in 2018, but is now moving from the MVC.

One has to wonder why our rivals, those we would hope to be judged against as peers, have had such success while this program has been mired in mediocrity so much that the wish each year seems merely the lowered expectation to maybe avoid the play-in round at Arch Madness, and we are left with memories of a Sweet Sixteen achieved before any of the current students were born. Indeed, even tonight the 12-1 deficit at the first media timeout appeared so familiar and not surprising. I can only conclude that if there were more changes than just the mascot name of the team (which hasn't yet witnessed a win), particularly as anticipated after the celebrated move to the MVC, VU might have been experiencing a higher trajectory as well.

#47
0 points, 2 turnovers, 25 minutes played

Can anyone guess who these stats belong to?

I'm beginning to believe no matter how bad this person plays he will get over 20 minutes per game.

Total stats for 3 games are 2 games started, 2 points, 72 minutes, 24 minutes average per game, 5 turnovers.

I think Valpo will pull out one of the games in the Bahamas by 1 or 2 points when Anderson, Edwards, Taylor or Barrett has a good scoring game. The Beacons get 2 wins in November.
