PREDICTION: DePaul 74, Butler 68

The case for a Butler victory is simple: they slow the tempo down and they clamp down on Freeman-Liberty enabling them to get a win that could put their season on track. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs they lack the overall defensive intensity of the only team that previously vanquished the Blue Demons, Loyola of Chicago. While Thompson could slow down Freeman-Liberty, stopping the other DePaul weapons could be more than the rest of the Bulldogs can handle. The Butler front court was exposed in their most recent loss to top five Purdue, and while no one is confusing Johnson and Ongenda with Trevion Williams and Zach Edey, they have played well enough in the paint to complement Freeman-Liberty.

When the sun rises in Chicago on Thursday, DePaul will either have its first Big East win and be playing for a ranking on New Year's Day versus Providence, or they'll be in the all too common position of being 0-1 and starring down more Blue Demon disappointment.

That really sucks. I was looking forward to watching that game. I've seen AZ and they are very good. Haven't had a chance to watch USC. At least they postponed the game, not cancelled it so we will get to watch it one day.
