I like to share a YouTube link to a program I recently hosted, "The Dignity of an Intellectual Life for All." Focusing on Dr. Zena Hitz's thought-provoking book, Lost in Thought: The Hidden Pleasures of an Intellectual Life (2020), the program examined the value of embracing the liberal arts and humanities for their own sake and considered how a rich intellectual life for everyone enhances human dignity. We opened with a conversation featuring Dr. Hitz (a tutor at St. John's College in Annapolis, MD), followed by a responsive panel comprised of four distinguished educators, including one of my VU schoolmates and long-time friend.
