Can anybody give some ideas of a few local places to eat around Hinkle for after the game Saturday?

Not sure about around Hinkle, but I would usually go to the Broad Ripple area for eats and entertainment.

Hinkle is at 49th St, about 0.5 miles west of Meridian.  Broad Ripple is at/near 62nd St and College, about 0.5 East of Meridian.

Thanks for the help.

A friend who is going to the game is going to Rick's Cafe Boathouse after the game.

Last time I went to Rick's Cafe Boathouse in Eagle Creek was to propose to my wife. That is a very special place. Any other Indy guys know about Rick's?

My first suggestion is to go to Broad Ripple and eat somewhere on the canal.

By the way say hi to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels on the way to or from the game.

4750 North Meridian Street. (halfway between 49th & 46th on Meridian). He might be at the game since he is within walking distance of Hinkle.

From what I have seen of the downtown area stay away from it. They are still preparing for the Super Bowl which takes place in early February and the Big 10 Championship game is that evening. Unless of course your going to the game. Too many Wisconsin fans can ruin anyone's evening. :-)

If your going to Broad Ripple my suggestion is Plump's Last Shot. Bobby Plump, the famous player from Milan High School, who's final shot is portrayed in the movie "Hoosiers" when Jimmy Chitwood wins the state championship on his final shot, put his name on this themed bar in Broad Ripple at 6416 Cornell Ave.

If you look at a map and see how the White River flows through the area of Broad Ripple, how it meanders up and down, you see why they call it "Broad Ripple."

I'm not an Indy guy, but have eaten at Rick's before. Definitely a neat place. Broad Ripple always has a good variety too.

Ended up driving back to Valpo and eating at Gelsosomos.  Ran into Coach Bryce as we were leaving.  That is the place to be after a game!

I went to Hot Box Pizza near Broad Ripple Ave and College and had a most interesting conversation with three members of the IFD about looking for a man who had jumped into the Broad Ripple canal last year. It did turn out to be Pat McAfee, the Colts punter, that had jumped into the canal. The conversation was about how because the Fire Dept spent time looking for McAfee in the canal multiple fire crews had to be shifted around from fire house to fire house and already depleted fire crews were spread out thinner than they should have been. To the IFD this was a very serious issue.
