I'm the historical guru.
First board was a rivals board. RLH and Crusaderboy were the moderators, and it started in 1998 or 1999. I think this may be the fourth board we've had??
Miss the old board with Chi-Man (obnoxious Oakland fan) and Huge ORU Fan (young man who is ORU's biggest supporter, former team manager). We used to have some good back-and-forth with them.
There are also a few VU fans who don't post here any more but I believe still read the board.

crusaderjoe

So the four boards have been:

1) rivals - 1998?
2) voy - 2000?
3) valpo04 part one - 2005
4) valpo04 part deux - current

Were there any others?  I could have sworn there was an attempt to start another VU board by someone else who no longer posts, but I might be wrong on that thought.

Thanks for the information and the trip down memory lane.

Isn't this message board supposed to be more Socialist, where we take from the rich to help the poor, or do not enough of you want to be ripped off by the Robin Hoods of the board? In terms of the video, while all in good form and humor, it is almost "Springtime for Hitler", if you're into random Mel Brooks movie musicals.

And the stalking continues...

I love these Hitler vids...funniest stuff on YouTube!!! Great job...thanks for mentioning my "no more than 6 scholarships per season" comment from that post...I feel as though I was really there!!! :P

Thank YOU for providing the info!  Glad to include you my friend!

I am not sure how "PC" it is to use Hitler on a forum associated with a Lutheran institution (maybe I am a little sensitive to this because I just read Eric Metaxas' book "BONHOEFFER, Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy"). However, that has to be the funniest thing I have ever seen on this forum.  Had me practically falling out of my chair.
FW, I would agree it's hilarious. Disappointing that he didn't include me, but still it was funny.
But I think the funniest thing ever posted was when I wrote some lyrics to "American Pie" when the real RB stopped posting on one of the first message boards. I printed it off, but the last time I looked for it I couldn't find it. It was from the Antonio Falu era, because I remember one of my lines said something about Falu going 1 on 4 on a fast break. :)

Wow...there is no room for boasting on this forum 89.  Just because I for once am getting the credit I so richly deserve and have clearly earned does not lessen your cred here.  I'm probably one of the top three posters on the board, but you don't hear me going on and on about it.  It's just uncouth.

I believe I can state with 100% certainty that Alexandra Maria Lara is hawt.

Not to threadjack, but speaking of that in bold, your comment got me to thinking.  When was the first or earliest Valpo message board ever created?  I remember there was a message board in existence in 1998 (or 1999?) called the "Crusader Corner" or something like that--I think it was on rivals.com???.  Who is the historical guru around here that can confirm this slice of message board history?

"Not to threadjack, but yeah, I'm going to threadjack"

Listen, if you want to talk about the history of this message board, why don't you download your own Hitler video, put in your own subtitles and post your own thread?  Maybe that would be a little more appropriate than riding my coattails and cashing in on my success at the first opportunity?

Can a mod please move this convo?  It is off-topic and is an obvious case of trolling.

So, the main topic of this thread is

1) A hilarious (albeit subtly anti-semitic, according to some) forum-related Hitler video

Was there any other point to this thread?  I could have sworn some guys tried to come in here and threadjack my glory, but I might be wrong about that.

Thanks for listening and for taking this out of place conversation elsewhere.

A+ Well done.

is it just me, or does the face holding the "admin power" sign look like it's got a hitler-esque mustache and haircut?

It certainly does bear a resemblance.  Makes you wonder why a mod who claims he is not running an Orwellian message board would send that kind of message?!?

Yes, I think someone tried to start a yahoo board once but it didn't take off.
Smartest poster of all time - Valpower. He moved to California, not registered here but maybe lurks?
03 - you're hilarious. Disturbed? Probably. But also hilarious.

Thanks again for providing this historical information about the yahoo board.  And I agree with you--Valpower was probably the smartest poster of all time.  That guy simply fell off the face of the earth.

I know exactly where Valpower is and exactly what he's doing.  Let's just say we are close  ;)

BTW, I think historyman would have a problem with your claim that you are the historical guru...par for the course with this poster though, I have come to realize.  I recommend putting 89 on ignore if needed, people.

I vaguely remember the "American Pie" post as something very funny.  Man did we pile it on old Tony especially when he left and ripped our hearts out.  It is nice to know that some of you guys can lighten things up for someone like me that takes this stuff WAY too seriously.

I love when people claim to not be bragging all the while they are bragging....a "top three poster"  now that is funny....topped your Hitler video.

8 posts in an hour on this topic from 03...I do not see this ending well....I believe he is heading down "Rick" Lane....to add a little more history to the discussion.

Rick!  Now that brings back memories!  Wonder if he ever got his medication figured out!   ;)
Season Results: CBI/CIT: 2008, 2011, 2014  NIT: 2003,2012, 2016(Championship Game) 2017   NCAA: 1962,1966,1967,1969,1973,1996,1997,1998 (Sweet Sixteen),1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2013 and 2015

Valpo89

And for 03 to say he's close to Valpower? Maybe Valpower's immature son?

Either that, or Valpower has been taking advantage of the medical marijuana law out there in California.

I read a previous board for a year and a half before actually posting. I always thought things had gotten so silly and that Rick could go way too overboard on the political stuff. Then I fell victim to the need to state my opinion and I have been hooked ever since. I have been around the Valpo campus since the 1970's.

03, I'm not so sure how serious he actually takes the board but the "double secret elite posters forum" is one of the funniest concepts I read on this or the previous board.

Does the cop look like Steve Urkel (sp?)? "Did I do that?"

C'mon man...it's obvious he looks much more like Carl Winslow than Steve Urkel.

No mustache and wearing glasses. No Carl Winslow. If the face had shoulders hunched up I think he's Steve Urkel wearing Carl's cop uniform.
